[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Or start a 7 day, 1500 + post scare, panic, & ‘discussion’…… . . :person_facepalming: . :open_mouth: .

I sent an email to Neal requesting for DHL tracking code as soon as shipped to make the correct customs declaration before the Giggles arrives in my country

I await an answer as soon as possible

So I bought an eight pack of 12 inch x 12 inch .060 Kydex sheets to make a lens cover for the GT. First tried making a cover without using a form and it came out real bad, loose fitting. Next I spent a couple of hours making a form, placed kydex in the oven to heat up and it shrunk to about half it’s original size. The light being round makes things extra difficult when using Kydex.

While i continue to wait for my GT, can anyone find out the effective beam angle? Measure the hotspot size at 10, 20 and/or as many meters away as reasonable

I was also thinking about this. And maybe line the inside with something to avoid scratches. But I have never worked with Kydex before so I really don’t know if it would work or not. Also kydex is pretty expensive here I would say. 18$ for a 12x12 sheet. 2,4mm thick, which is around 0.9 thickness.

As far as I know you dont need to make any customs declarations before it arrives to Uruguay. I have sent a crap load of packages to Uruguay when I was working for my last employer and none of those recipients needed AWB numbers before shipping. If you need that AWB just for the tax avoiding purposes, it’s a diffrent story and imho thats not something they need to do for you.

People need to calm down. I have seen more patient 5 year old children. Just like somebody said, Lumintop might have took a little too big bite here. I’m surprised that they haven’t already halted the production of the group buy GT’s, stole the design and started to sell them out 250USD a piece… Well, just joking but there are some really dishonest chinese companies out there, so big thumbs up to Lumintop

Kydex Shrinkage… this ’might’ help.

The piece that shrunk so bad was square when placed in the oven. It only shrunk one way, the other way got a little longer. Started with a square and ended up with a rectangle twice as long as it is wide. In the link above the guy was having the same problem.

Yeah, it had something to do with the direction of extrusion of the Kydex when it was made.

Also heating to fast can be a cause IIRC, or at least a contributing factor.

That does seem like a huge amount of shrinkage you got. ??

+1

Is it possible to change from registered to DHL? I just checked the list and for some reason I’m on there for registered. I’m in the US, so DHL shouldn’t be an issue.

What had happened with the Eu shipping? I mailed Neal but no answer

According to TA… just waiting on the lights to be finished. Shipping at the rate of 150 to 200 per week per last update.

10h teacher, i dont follow the whole topic and it was kinda messy to me.

I understand Mitko…… :+1: .

That’s why I claim the AWB
I want to avoid unnecessary problems and expenses
The first time, a few years ago, I did not make the customs declaration
The package was retained
So I know what are the problems and the expenses

I know well how is the mechanism, I have done it many times
I think you never did it so you do not know him

I have let Neal know about this several times.

Apparently it all kind of ties together. Neal had not got the latest batch of tracking numbers until several days after they had shipped (if at all, never got an update of if he got them). DHL shipping is so fast that they simply beat Neal by delivering the packages before he got the tracking numbers.

That is the last update I got about the shipping. Past they are making and trying to ship around 150-200 a week we know positively nothing about how, what order or where the packages are going. Only that they are indeed shipping.

Remember that Neal just got married a month ago and is starting his new life with his Wife. Personally I would not have been seen on here for months in his shoes. He is also one man and he is having to wade through hundreds of messages a day in many cases, most of which are unneeded (either already answered, no change from the last awnser or the like).

He is the only contact we have in china with good English, so all the translation is on his shoulders. This is a LOT of work for one man.

Not to worry people, the lights are shipping slow and steady.

For those that must have a tracking number for customs, PM me directly and I will forward your names to Neal to put you at the top of the list for sending tracking numbers.

This is exactly what is happening and why I have refused to send out the 3rd batch of PM’s until they are caught up.

Although you do bring up a point about the Chinese new year, we might have to wait until after that to send the 3rd round depending on exactly when they catch up with the current orders. I had forgotten it was coming up so soon.

We have not had any updates during any of the shipping process past how many lights have shipped / they are planning to ship this week. That is the limit of what we know in most cases.

All we know for sure is they are shipping around 150 lights a week it appears on average and they are working their way through the paid list more or less in order at this point.

I assume registered has started shipping but since that takes a few weeks to arrive, well we will not hear much for a few weeks about people getting them.
