Does anyone know where I can purchase the same XHP35 HI 4000k D4 LED emitters used in the BLF GT? I want to reflow a few into some of my lights. Thanks.
Tracking notices are coming in for the 4th shipment saying it will ship on the 20th. So far there are 3 people, all in Singapore, and their lights are expected on the 23rd. They signed up for DHL, but it seems that Neal is sending them by FedEx, instead. There is also one USA order being sent by DHL.
Thanks Jason, hopefully that clears some doubts about the FedEx confusion a few pages back!
With all this “just be patient”, I’m starting to get deja vu from my experience with the BLF X6/X5 GB a couple of years ago.
Did that one have slow production as well? It was before my time.
No it’s not the same situation as this light. Whilst it would be nice to have this one already I am not really concerned about it and have no doubt it will get to me when it’s ready, it’s just hearing those same words brings back memories haha
With that group buy it was limited to 400 units with serial numbers on each light. I had ordered two sets, number 19 and number 150 on the list and as such was supposed to get two X5/X6 sets with numbers 19 of 400 and 150 of 400 in matching timber display cases. I paid within an hour of the link going live and paid a lot extra for an upgraded shipping option which was only supposed to take like 3 days. Weeks went by and the tracking numbers never worked so I asked and asked and asked and everyone just kept telling me they would arrive just to be patient. Eventually someone at Banggood finally looked into it and told me my lights never got shipped and were no longer available. By that stage almost all of the stock had sold out and all they could offer me was some individual lights with all random high serial numbers and there were no timber boxes left. It was a disappointing experience.

I am in the first 555 paid, registered shipping, no batteries to the UK & have not been posting in this thread just patiently waiting
Am I right in thinking that the last of the first 555 DHL shipments have now been made & that next week the first of the non USA non DHL shipments will be sent ?
What, I chose DHL to the UK but haven’t received or even heard anything? Do I need to make a paypal claim? I was patiently waiting too but can’t check everyday so missed DHL UK shipments
You will get the light, not to worry. It is only a question of time.
Once they catch up on the orders we will take a headcount to see if anyone was missed and ship out lights as needed. I would be surprised if at least 1 person was not missed with all the hands the shipping and order information has to jump through with the current system.
This is why for the next GB I want it all automated, remove the human hands and about 90% of the hassle, work and issues we are dealing with along with it.
Luckily we are getting close, a few more weeks and things should be basically caught up and then we can start really looking into any possible issues.
I got a text from DHL last night that my 2nd round light is on its way to USA, no ETA given.
Congratulations! Lumintop must love the USA very much.
Not that they love the USA so much as they love DHL and most of the DHL shipments are going to the USA.
It is perfectly understandable as well, I have yet to hear about a real issue with the DHL shipping but I know that the registered mail will have issues, it always does.
No one is looking forward to dealing with those issues.

I am also wanting to get some of these as well, got a boost driver I am about to start playing with and I really like these.
Although I have been talking to Neal about them and he actually found an even better LED option that he tried to send me for testing but sadly it was lost along the way.
If they test well they should be a very good XHP35 option and could even make it into the next round of GT’s if they test very good. They are 4500k vs 4000k.

And this is exactly what it is, as a blf member that chose registered mail because this great dhl let us pay 55 dollar extra in Europe, I don’t feel represented by the team in this case. I can wait, no problem, but I don’t like misinformation. Lumintop should not offer registered mail if they don’t want to use it. It’s a bit strange, all my other lights came with registered mail without problems and with tracking.

I’m very sure that is not what is happening, as Bozlight pointed out, chinese sellers have no problem using registered shipping. What is way more likely is that they (Neal? Lumintop?) have simply not figured out how to do the double packaging, and like everyone who is not facing consequences for the way they do things (things are handled in a random way until it is directly affected by money, reputation in China is not highly regarded) ; the easy stuff is done first.
In shipping, none of the BLF group buys went well so the BLF teams organising them should be frank about that: it comes when it comes, in random and unfair order.
(although they never promised complete fairness, the GT team expected shipping to be smoother than it went)

Crossing the beams does no harm (unless it’s taking a while for the Aliens to respond)
Even from 1.31 miles away, don’t look into the business end!
One of my friends (the one on the far side of the lake) had a meter set up, an GT with XHP-35 HD E4 5700K emitter showed 0.2 lux at 1.31 miles, one with an XHP-35 HI D4 5700K showed the same 0.3 lux as my sliced HD E4 5700K variant. So the two with the tighter beams did 1.323Mcd across the lake on a 90% humidity night, extrapolated to 1.429 miles throw. This was determined by reverse engineering the formula to get .3 lux at 1.31 miles.
3 GT’s together put 0.5 lux on the far beach. Pretty neat out at the lake seeing opposite shore lines and such. The one friend with the meter said when we shined the GT’s over his head he could clearly see the beam in the night air, that column of blue-white light, so the beam is still visible at over 2100 meters. Way cool stuff!

Just to be clear, it is just a remote possibility that this LED could be used in the future batches of GT’s. Although it would be the retail batches, not the GB lights as all of those are already built, just waiting for reflectors.

Yes, there are many small reasons for the DHL shipments going first. Some I don’t agree with, some I can’t argue with and some I agree with. I won’t get into the details but it all boils down to it happened the way it happened.
From the start the entire team assumed that they would ship out in the order they were paid. Simple, direct and fair.
Then they started shipping them by the pallet and by country.
We talked it over and it would have been way more hassle and caused more issues then just letting it play out. The shipping speed would not have changed no matter what, only who got their lights first.
For the record the team never wanted, asked for or even desired for the USA to get the first shipments. In fact I asked several times if they could send the next batch to other countries. I wanted them to be spread out across the globe from the start so that we could get some reviews of the lights in a lot of different settings and get feedback on the shipping from various countries early on.
If you’re located in the USA try here: https://www.mouser.com/
Thanks BoxCarWillie that site is wonderful just need to find the exact bin, and hopefully it doesnt require a minimum of 1000 emitters.
You’re Welcome! You can also go to the Cree data sheet and find the code order numbers if you scroll down:
http://www.cree.com/led-components/media/documents/ds-XHP35.pdf
Then if you copy and paste the code order number, you can go here and paste it in the search section here:
https://octopart.com/
This should show you a list of companies that may have the part you are looking for!
Thanks Jason, hopefully that clears some doubts about the FedEx confusion a few pages back!
