Not trying to hijack the thread , but some of the questions asked about the TC20 here may be answered in my full review with lumens , amperage and some runtime charts………
Also the light I compared was not the R50 seeker as mentioned a couple of post above , but was the Olight X7 Marauder.
I can answer you with the CW version I just received…GREENISH AND YUCK! It’s not overly green but it’s there in all modes except turbo. It’s hard to describe but it’s a beam that, (to me), and for a lack of a better term is “sickly like looking through a slightly green fog”
Again, the turbo mode is nice and white and is what the other modes should look like. I’m very sensitive to greenish tints and to me, it’s very disappointing. I’m sure it might not bother some folks but like atbglenn said, we’re all somewhat overly picky here.
The light itself is very well built and otherwise very quality with only the slight mushiness in the activation button, (as one poster pointed out), the only other slight negative. But the beam color trumps it all.
I compared the CW beam of the TC20 against my D1 in CW that I received last month and it’s no comparison. The D1’s CW beam should be the standard that all CW beams should be, white, white, PURE WHITE! No green, no blue, no yellow, nothing but white.
I apologize as I have no way to show beam shots but this is going back. I just hope Thrunite doesn’t give me a hassle in getting a refund.
I hope you folks that ordered CW have better luck than me.
Maybe I’m missing something but what other tint options are there with this light? It seems like a lot of these “new and improved” LED’s” ARE improved with better runtimes and more brightness but still are hindered with tint problems just like the old days.
I really had high hopes for this but alas, it has some teething problems like most new lights nowadays.
Hey, I’ve got an idea! Let’s just buy them anyway and spend extra money for better whatever this or that and many hours to make them right!
Again and like always, some folks will be fine with these tints and nothing wrong with that. I just wish I could be.
One of the things I like a lot about this flashlight is how FireFly and Turbo are hidden.
What I like less is the spacing of the outputs. I would prefer: Medium = 650lumen.
Does this flashlight has a ATtiny?
200% more lumen, 90% runtime in Turbo compared to High? How realistic are the run times?
-Turbo (3800 lumen; 130 minutes)
-High (1800 lumen; 145 minutes)
@robo819 THAT’s the info I was looking for!
Do I have to wear gloves for Turbo mode?
So after 3 minutes on Turbo it steps down to about High (1800)
Do you have a similar table for the High setting? The specs state 145 mins on high. I guess that should be read as 145 mins @1300-1800 lumen?
The charts are the only testing I have done with the TC20. Had 3 lights come in for review at once and have 2 of them done so haven’t had much time to do more testing with it.
I think if started in High mode though it would probably get 120 to 140 minutes as my best guess.
It gets hot at the 3 minute mark but not blister you instantly hot , as you could probably grab the head for a couple of seconds before you get burned.
Ok I went out and took a few shots with the TC20 I did my review on. Taken from 22 Feet away at a WHITE garage door , paint is a semi dark beige and the trim is a rust red.
Did this so those asking about the tint on the cool white can judge for themselves , as to whether they like the tint this ONE particular sample I did the review on with the COOL white emitter.
I’m not seeing the “sickly greenish’ tint reported by Gebe in an earlier post for the CW version, so he may have got a loosing ticket in the tint lottery. I can’t even notice the tint shift in the photos. But for me the real test is when it’s beamed at some leafy greens, trees, shrubs etc.
Not sure the CCT of the CW version but personally I most likely wouldn’t be happy with anything 6000K or higher. It’ll be interesting to see what abglenn has to say, soon he’ll have both tints.
