Thorfire provided me their new TK05 single AA/14500 flashlight the Thorfire TK05 to review and after a few days carry here are my
initial impressions
Pros:
nicely machined - i.e. square cut threads are exact, diamond cut grip is nicely done, no visible machining marks evident
side switch has no evident slop - it feels firm and responsive
Cons:
Lack of moonlight mode in what I consider to be a generally indoor EDC light(For my needs a moonlight mode is rarely needed for an outdoor model but used very often indoors.) A driver similar to used in a Thorfire TK15 would had been perfect for this light (A long press in that light from off brings up moonlight mode)
Please disregard the length shown in the picture. The wonky perspective of the shot throws off the lights dimensions. It is Actually just about ~3.5” in overall length. The light is also thinner then it shows.
My early impression is that this light feels nice in hand and use. In the dark, I can intuitively reach for it in my pocket and locate & turn on the side switch. It feels quite pleasant to use. Despite not being ideal for MY uses with it’s lack of a true moonlight mode (which I only use for my AM night time usage in which I carry a different light) the light feels comfortable enough for me to keep the light in my pocket for the majority of the day.
