Why did they include a picture of a cpu heatsink and tiny fans? That doesn’t have anything to do with the flashlight.
Maybe it represents their cooling philosophy of a central post to carry the heat and then the fins carry it outward similar in style/design to that cpu heatsink?
It looks like it will use a battery pack instead of individual cells. Not everyone likes packs, so we will have to see how people react.
I hope they switch to a more flush type screw around the switches.
There is definitely not any active cooling. We could have seen that from earlier pictures. It requires a very unique design from the beginning.
I asked the same question about why they included that cpu heatsink picture. I also gave a suggested answer.
The copper cyclinder of that cpu cooler might represent the middle cylinder section of the flashlight. Just like the cpu cooler has fins radiating out from that cylinder, so does the MF03.
I think they would need to decide that at the very beginning of the project, not this far along. You have to design air inlets and outlets to achieve airflow across special sized and shaped heatsinks.
With the current design, about all they could do is strap a little fan on the side of the head and have a special plug for it. That’s not going to be very efficient, though.
They could boost efficiency by enclosing the fins on each side of the fan so all its air is forced out the opposite side. It would not look pretty, though.
Didn’t we have a picture of the cutaway design? I thought we did.
EDIT: I just realized this is the interest list. There is a different thread about the design.
