Yes, mechanical lockout by a slight twist of the head. (unscrewing)
I also added that info to my previous post about the switch.
Sorry!!!

Oops I missed that… cool then thanks!!
Does Thrunite charge up front for pre orders of this light???
TC20 battery came fully charged, slightly disconcerting. 4.19 according to lil500. Never had a brand new battery come from factory fully charged. Paranoia big destroyer!
Has anyone tried unprotected flat top high drain batteries in this light? I want to have spare cells for this light.

I tried Keeppower IMR 4200 and worked fine.

Great thanks!
I will also be running a shockli 26650 imr flat top… a light like that should deserve imr in my book.
Works fine with an Efest IMR 26650 4200mah 40amp battery (purple)

LiitoKala Lii-50A 5000mAh unprotected Flat Top IMR also works fine.
What batteries do you have?
I have some 18A IMR efest 5000 mah on the way.
Every once in a while the switch doesn’t respond. It’s only happened a few times. Has anyone of you experienced this?

No, I’ve been using it a fair amount and I’ve not had that issue at all with mine.

It hasn’t happened since my post. Maybe the switch contact was bit oxidized?
Well hopefully it doesn’t keep acting up.
Personally I really like the action of the switch on this. I think there were some complaints it was “mushy” or “sloppy” or something, I think I said this before but to me it seems like a just a longer “throw” than other side e-switches that feel more “precise”
I think why I like it is that it takes less effort to use. But interestingly it seems more effort for accidental turn on.
Gebe:I’m really glad you are satisfied with yours.
It’s amazing that a light like my D1 at almost half the price of the TC20 and has a perfect switch with no mushiness, and a perfect CW tint, (to me!).
It’s also plenty bright enough for almost any of my needs and if it wasn’t, I’d just buy a D4 with it’s amazing turbo mode and get two lights for almost the price of one TC20!
Besides, for the most part, the TC20’s turbo mode with the 3800lm it produces, doesn’t impress me that much over what the D4 and D1 turbo modes put out. As a plus, the D1 and D4 are so much smaller.
Believe me, I’m not slamming the TC20 and if you like it, that’s all that matters. Go for it!
The D1 only puts out 1300lm on turbo, or am I missing something?
You really can’t compare this to Emisar …
The D4 can only run in turbo for what… maybe 20-30 seconds? And how many 20 second turbo blasts are you going to get before the battery needs recharged? And I’ve read it gets burning hot within seconds on turbo:
Quote from the maker of D4 (Hank @ Int’l Outdoor):
“The D4 will produce tremendous heat on turbo mode, and heat up very fast (10~20 seconds for the thermal protection to kick in depends on the cell)”
.
The TC20 will run in Turbo for several minutes before step down begins, that’s a huge difference, plus with the 5000mAh 26650 you have a much greater battery capacity, not to mention the TC20 boasts a rated 320m beam distance. Yes both the D1 & D1S will out throw it, but neither are “lumen monsters” And the D4 is pretty much a close range flooder.I’m not slamming the Emisar either - I’ll be ordering a D4 soon, the TC20 and D4 are both great flashlights but they definitely have their different uses.
Owned a D4 XP-G2 model and now own the XP-L HI model…I’d be surprised if I could hold either of them more than 15 seconds on FULL brightness without gloves (which I rarely wear). Their highest levels are definitely for “show” or for quick scans of an area far away. If I were interested in sustained brightness to a larger area at some distance, I always picked up the Acebeam EC 50 Gen II that was mentioned here earlier (excellent light I sold recently to fund something else). This Thrunite definitely looks like a nice blend of features and power to me.

I’ve been using mine every day, and so far the switch has not acted up like it did a few times in the beginning. As far as a mushy feel, I’m not experiencing that. I love the switch action. Overall, I’m very happy with the TC20.

I just realized something else after reading cdjaney’s post above, the switch on this light is great for using when wearing gloves!
