Astrolux "MF04" discussion thread

Maybe I missed this explanation if TA, where can I find it?

Post #1 of the GT thread. (Posted under the members account, Team Giggles)

found it. Seems ok so far, but we’ll have to see how things are working out while Chinese new year is coming up. And yes, looks like a GT clone, the BLF GT is the original. I am a bit afraid this clone will overtake the real GT if things are moving too slow with production and shipping.

Call me old fashioned, but i like the original

And yes, i’m afraid i don’t have it until March or even later.
You know, good stuff takes a while

yep, I hope you get it sooner, it’s a beast, top notch super thrower!

Interested ,

This was just a matter of time. IMHO it was unavoidable, and it is about time some rip-off clones showed up, the GT progress has been quite slow recently. One can not expect other manufacturers to simply ignore our “propaganda” around the BLF GT with almost all the ideas and design solutions readily available online. This MF 04 looks like early models of BLF GT. Too bad they just copied a short prototype. It would be nice if a flashlight of this size had 5x dedomed XHP 35s or 5x dedomed XP-ls, now that would be interesting! The only real competition of such a design would be Acebeam X65, but at 3 times the price.

A Multi emitter light has nothing to do with these gigathrowers. That’s a different class of lights.

Yes, multiemitter lights are a completely different class than dedicated throwers with a single led, but I still think 4 overdriven dedomed XP-Ls in a huge 120mm reflector would throw over 1 MCD and deliver 6000-7000 lumens. But this is just my pure speculation and I do not want to hijack the thread, so sorry for this OT.

Looks like there will be dueling lights from either side of the truck. I’m in for one to start.
Is this pretty well laid out as a product or is there going to be the hashing about about drivers and leds, run times and weight? I learned a boatload of new things to consider with the GT, but would be happy with a cold white kickass long distance thrower that I can use as an emergency truck wheel chock.

It is worth the wait. I know that isn’t much consolation, when you get it, you will see the reality of owning one of the most powerful throwers in existance. It is as clear and crisp at lower settings at far distance as it is on turbo, it just doesn’t blind the deer in the next county!

One XHP 70.2 can do this too, without artifacts.

Dont know what to say. :expressionless:

Obviously it was just a matter of time before a ‘clone’ of the GT was made. Really surprised to see it this quick.*
It’s not bad, looks decent but they still need to fine tune the look.
Dont think that this light will have a huge impact on the GT, they might be similar but still both are different lights. It will depend on the availability of both lights.

I didn’t see any dimensions mentioned?
We sure this is a 120mm reflector like the GT?

It would be smart if they will use a XHP70.2 from the beginning. They need to stand out besides the GT in order to get it sold. (besides the price…)

*one of the reasons to make the GT, a unique huge long throw and high performance flashlight for decent price, was to ‘shake up’ the market. To see this made means we succeeded.

Mateminco/Astrolux needs to make sure the emitter is properly focused, do some experimenting to determine the right height. That’s my only compalint with the MF02, still a great light.

especially with a reflector of that size exact emitter positioning is absolutey paramount

I wonder how things are with the quality of the reflector
