The maximum cut-off voltage of each charging rail can be directly read over it when the charger is in CV mode, which is easily caused on purpose by attaching some high resistance in series with a cell like alligator clamps with magnets. Actual maximum resting voltage will be somewhat below this value depending on termination current and rail to cell total resistance.
Wondering myself how this one goes about it’s business, would like some quality chargers for those occasions I give away a light.
My MAHA dedicated NiMH chargers have two charging rates for NiMH cells, standard and soft charge. Standard charge rate is 2000mA, one has 100mA soft charge while the other is 300mA, both are 8 bay chargers. The other day I was getting ready for a wedding, charging cells for my flash units… I had 5 of the 8 bay chargers going full out. These 2 MAHA’s and 2 Enova Li-Ion/NiMH with another Gyrfalcon also loaded. After the cells were done, I took my 2 sets of premium cells for two flash units and conditioned them in the MAHA chargers.
So my primary cells were charged, charged again, discharged, then charged again. I took 868 photo’s on my 1st set of 4 and my wife took 1025 photo’s also on her first set of 4… neither of us got into the second set. That’s some serious work from the Pro level NiMH LSD cells! (FWIW, we didn’t change the camera battery either)
To have a small single bay charger that works well, easily used anywhere… from a battery bank or solar panel or the car or whatever… this could come in quite handy.
Note: displayed current value is function of voltage drop and sense resistor values, which are implemented on the microcontroller unit's software. Bear this in mind for sense resistor mods to change current output, as the displayed current values won't change unless the sense resistor variable value is poked in the software.
If, for example, you 4x the sense resistor value (nice for small cells like 10440s) you need to divide by 4 the displayed current value. No big deal though.
Pete7874, I've bought more Lii-100s from GearBest than I personally need (like a lot of you), but only my first unit looked ”vintage”. The ziplock plastic bag was even removed from the package in the last unit I received (still another one :-D to go).
Cheers ^:)
P.S.: $0.99? LoL! I've got a couple $1.99 sales maybe. Now that you say this, could it be that these $0.99 units are new old stock they are getting rid of?
