Lowes Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

So there’s a new Lowes in town?

BTW, this screws me up ALL the time.
I’ll go shopping at Home Depot and Lowes and back home when I clean out the car this is what messes me up.

THAT is a Home Depot bag!!!

Lowes Utilitech LED bulbs on clearance (guessing a new style / revamped packaging is coming out). I personally like these bulbs. I like the 3000k tint.

-Garry

Not bad, I have those bulbs throughout my home, and so far, no failures.

Off topic a bit, but Wal Mart stores in my area have been clearancing out last season’s LED bulbs for good prices as well. I was able to get a good buy on some of the 100W equivalent bulbs, with the old style heavy fluted heatsink bases ($5/pr) to, and several 75W equivalent GE PAR 30 like pictured below for $5 each. I’m both cases, I checked the new stock and the same style bulbs were available for 3-5x the clearance cost.

Recently SEARS sold the Craftsman name to Stanley Black & Decker
Yesterday it was announced that starting in 2018 Lowes will be selling Craftsman tools.

Interesting, I wonder if they will still be made in China… The older stuff that is made in the USA are better quality. I dred breaking any of my Craftsman stuff because I know they will replace with the new stuff.

I saw this deal on LED 4’ replacement tubes for florescent light fixtures. These pics come from 2 different Lowes stores. I checked a few other stores around the country online and this deal seems to be everywhere.
This is by far the cheapest I have ever seen 4’ LED replacement tubes!
I picked up a 4 pack for $12.49 to play around with. Our kitchen ceiling fixture takes 3 tubes, leaving me one to mess with. I’ll post those pics later.
4 tubes for $12.49 is only a little over $3 each!

2 packs for $7.49 (5000K DayLight)

or 4 packs for $12.49 (5000K DayLight)

On the left are 4 packs of 4000K bulbs marked down to $21.23

Do these tubes work WITHOUT the ballast? For that price,I’m betting NOT.

They do not, they work only with an electronic ballast. Not the magnetic ones.
Actually for most I would think that would be preferable. Simple replacement.
As I said, I’ll know more after I fool around with one

I just do not like anything Utilitech.
They work right out of the box but seen to die at a rapid rate.

I was a Electrical Contractor most of my life and did see how bad this brand was/is.

Buy what ever you want but I will not be buying these.

My point is with ballast it is very inefficient When I go led, I do not want a ballast. So I would go with other type tubes. There is a thread already about those tube types.

Thread link?

Thanks,
-Garry

Start here. There is another good thread will link it later…

hmmmm...... searched and cant find other thread i'm looking for. Hyperikon branded led tubes is what i remember was the discussion...I think...I know the brand began with the letter H. Anybody else find it post link here please

They are also unloading cases of 16 bulbs for $39.99
4000K and 5000K and 6500K

A friend is trying out a case for his restaurant. If they’re OK he will get 4 more.

Well, after realizing that ALL Lowes stores was clearing out these LED replacement tubes I decided to take a chance on a lower price.
I returned the box of 4 that I had paid $12.49 for.

My gamble paid off.
This week while traveling in Ohio, I stopped in a Lowes west of Cleveland. As I walked past this clearance cart, an associate told me that everything on the cart was marked off an additional 75%.

The blue arrow points to 10 cartons of 2 each of these 4 foot LED replacement bulbs. The previous clearance price was $7.49 per box of 2. An additional 75% off brings that down to $1.87. (they had to make the price correction aat the register) Using my Lowes card got me an extra 5%.
There was also some 6 packs of E27 light bulbs that had been marked down to $7.98. 75% off that brings it down to an even $2 per pack of 6. I got just one of those.

85 cents per 4 foot LED replacement tube

Remember ALL Lowes stores have these on clearance. Check your store out, you just might be lucky enough to get the extra 75. I say that because I have noticed that Lowes will often times do the extra 75 at the end when they really, really what to move old stock.

Will that extra 75% show up when you check on-line? My local store is still showing $12.49/4pack with 51 available. I’m going to try and check for these tomorrow.

-Garry

No, I don’t think the extra 75% will show up online.

There is only a small chance they will have the extra 75% off. I mentioned in my post that they had to do a price adjustment at the register. In other words they scanned for the old price.

Can you believe I still haven’t had the time to check out what I bought?

You might find a sympathetic manager that will price match if you show him pics and the receipt. :innocent:

Well I finally put a couple of these LED 4’ replacements into a new in the box florescent light fixture I had stowed away.
I will compare it casually to both the $15 MaxLite LED shop lights that I bought at Ocean State Job Lot and the FEIT LED shop light that I got at Costco, on sale for $20. (All three lights emit about the same amount of light)

Watts and Volt-Amps drawn measureing with a “Kill-A-Watt” meter

Utilitech replacement LED in florescent fixture with Solid State Ballast - 61W, 105VA

MaxLite LED fixture - 38W, 40VA

FEIT LED fixture - 35W, 35VA ( I know, that’s what it said)

Well my Lowe’s still has these bulbs at the advertised price (no additional discount) - I would have bet money on it. I picked up (4) 4-packs of 5000k (5000k not available in 16-packs, at least not at my store) only to realize when I got home that I should have bought 4000k (when I have decisions like that to make, I choose wrong 95% of the time). So tomorrow I’ll call ahead to have them pull down the 16-packs from the overheads (display was empty today) and keep one at customer service for a quick 5 minute return and $10 refund.

Oh, plenty of each pack at my store, though most in the overheads.

-Garry

Lowes online is showing the Utilitech T8 LED 4-pack now down to $9.99 down from $12.49. 16-packs still $39.99.
