Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

OK, so basically the head will screw on to it, and if you wanted you could just put a tail cap on it and it would be a 18350 light?

Right.

If I buy:
1x P60 solid Cu 18350 neck S2 Cu pill
1x P60 Surefire copper quad shelf – new version

Would you toss in 1x Discounted S2-S8 spacers with some burs?

Today arrived, super packed… :sunglasses:

I`m in for a Convoy m2 quad kit

Me too, in copper.

Put me down for the m2 quad, i counted with mosled mpcb… Probably go with a triple.

One question Kiriba, what its the exact size of hole in your spacers, in the c8 spacer for example?

It varies. Last year I tried to make it 4.0…4.2mm

Thank you, so i will drill the hole in 3,5 - 4.0mm.

Convoy m2 quad kit please

I’d be interested, sadly I don’t have a C8 around, but I do have an M8, are the head-side tube threads compatible?
What size should the 2mm glass be?

Threads are not fully comparable, also m8 tube threads are shorter.
Regular C8 42x2mm glass.

Oh well, I guess I’m skipping this one but I’ll be in for the next batch :+1:

I would like the to try it out.

I have a Thorfire C8, I think is the same threads if not I will buy a Convoy.

ok Im in for a few of the c8 kits. Honestly Im not crazy about the design if the fins were tapered to make the head more of a cone shape it would be more aesthetically pleasing.

I like it. The way I see it this is about performance and functionality, not aestethics, and the fins taking up basically all the avaiable space mean maximum heat dissipation in this form factor. Though depending on how well the heat can travel down the center tube the last fins might not do much to help and so tapering them might have no perceivable impact on performance.

I agree, i do like the idea, but i dont’t like the shape of it.
It’s eeeh… how do i have to say it briefly?

ugly

I’d prefer more the classic flashlight shape with large fins, something like this quick sketch

just my opinion though.

I havent made tests or even software simulation, but walls thickness was calculated to avoid heat transfer limitation.
Target of this project - increase consuption power affortable for your hands in real usage. Unfortunately, I cant anodize this batch (will probably try next one) - this could be a little improvement in heat radiation.

I’m probably in for batch #2 especially if I can bundle something else with it to save on shipping (m2 quad perhaps). I also think the last two fins could be tapered slightly. Maybe take 25% material off 2nd fin and 50% off last fin for a good stair step or maybe 33% and 66%.

Crude photoshop, not actual product:

I was worry how rigid will be actual head. Thats why last fin is thicker and 1mm bigger diameter - I wanted to prevent bending after falls.
