[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Here is my understanding:

The CFT90 outputs 100% of it’s power towards the front.

The cree LEDs have light leaking out do the sides since the LES (light emitting surface) is raised, especially the .2 (and XPG3) LEDs.

This results in a spectral distribution that has lower intensity at the front but higher towards the sides and other angles.

(note this is relative, so in order for both to output the same lumens, the red line will not go all the way up to the same 100% as the black line)
This means that even though it outputs the same amount of lumens, less of those lumens are output from the top of the die (which is what gives the highest lux, measured at the center of the hotspot)

This is just for the .2 LEDs, however.
The reason the old XHP50 doesn’t do as good is because it is just four XP-G2 dies on the same chip, which results in more heat and less intensity.
The old XP-G2 alone dedomed does get about 200cd/mm&2 like the CFT90 is getting.

OMG it’s arrived! the reflector is perfect too, no customs and a 10 minute long chat with the postman who was ‘wow’…….
Testing tonight! It is a MONSTER!
Thank you everyone involved, I’m so glad you DIDN’T refund me!

I am in the UK on the list for the next payment batch at 1156 did you fill in the custom form and did you get some batterys included as it seems some parcels to the UK have been having problems

Mine has now arrived in the Royal Mail Cardiff sorting office, some 20 miles from me, as of midnight last night :+1:
I have received no communication from customs so there can”t be any VAT or courier handling fees to be paid
It can only be a day or 2 away from me :+1:

Take it easy on that POST button

Yes I filled out the customs form , but there was nothing at all on the box at all to say value, simply a royal mail 48 tracked sticker, it literally looks like someone in the UK sent it! ( I have never had anything from China without customs labels on, weird? I am certainly not complaining  )and no I didn’t have batteries.

Something wrong with the site this morning NikolaS - it’s very slow and jerky, I had real trouble posting, it took several attempts. I even shut the browser down and restarted it, but made no difference.

Royal mail tracking shows “out for delivery today”

I feel quite emotional.

Mine was delivered about an hour ago :+1:
Got 8 x 30Q”s on charge as we speak.
I took some pics of unboxing but for some reason dropbox is not syncing them to my laptop.
Anyway fit & finish is very good, everything is very clean & dust free, threads are smooth & lubed, there are some light machining marks on the reflector but nothing of any concern & the led is well centered.
If I can get the pics to upload to my lap top I will post them but it is safe to say that I am a happy bunny.
Oh by the way the light is HUGE
Big :+1: to Lumintop & the team, especially TA

Are theses gt’ that are arriving in the uk sent by registered mail or dhl?

Mine should have been registered mail but as it left Hong Kong on the 12th & is with me on the 19th it obviously was not sent as registered mail as that takes at least 4-6 weeks.
Also there is no mention of it coming from China on the box, in fact it looks like it was shipped from a London address.

Mine is probably arriving this week too. Finnish Posti tracking service now shows 1 out of 2 Malaysia Post shipments and says “item arrived in the destination country” today.

I don’t know if there are several definitions for “registered mail” but I always thought it just means a postal service that is more than a simple letter, as in having a tracking code. Whether a retail company arranges the tracking information to be handed out to the customer beforehand is whole another issue. :) I think a lot of the time(with dx, bg, gb etc) the only difference is if tracking number is given to the customer, and the mail service is the same. I sometimes receive stuff that was not supposed to have tracking and I did not have it - but a notice with tracking numbers shows up and a signature is needed at the post office.

I also thought the “alternative shipping option” for “2 parcels by registered mail” originally just meant that one could ask not to be shipped DHL but instead via a traditional mail service. Not necessarily something that always takes 4-6 weeks, while I was prepared for that. Now it seems it’s taking a total of about about 8-10 working days for my shipment to arrive, and for some UK members ~5-6 working days. That is fast but not unheard of. In my limited experience about 1/3 of Asian mail shipments arrive in just over a week, most takes 2-4 weeks and sometimes it takes 4-6 weeks.

I have always understood that registered mail from China or Hong Kong is via sea as opposed to air : ie the slow boat from China that is often referred to.
Maybe I am wrong.
Either way this light has taken 7 days to get from Hong Kong to me :+1:

I received my GT today, 2 parcel registered, it had a pretty big nick, charging 30q batteries to try it, it’s a monster in size, just showing it to 2 people made them laugh out loud.

Big smiles from UK as I am now in possession of my GT. Cells on the chargers, cannot wait. Thanks team.

Tracking says mine is delivered! I get to continue the agonising wait because I’m abroad with work for another couple of weeks :stuck_out_tongue:
