The SYNIOSBEAM - CFT90 recoil thrower

Thank you, thatā€™s what I love to do

A lot more complicated too!
Same, Iā€™m curious to see how far off my estimates are.

Haha thanks, very few people are interested in spending that much money on a thrower :stuck_out_tongue:
Who knows, maybe in the future I can design a more affordable one that people would be willing to buy.
I mean, silent thunder ordnance sells mediocre 3D printed flashlights for hundreds of dollars when their parts only cost less than a hundred.

Fantastic build! Put me on the list for two please.

Hahaha thanks
I know youā€™re joking because you have probably read all the component prices in the budget

I agree Enderman stepped it up bigtime for this build. A little more detail on construction of the cooling system (bending the tubing, etc) would be great. It turned out really well.

I am a big fan of the Optofire. That light still inspires me to one day try to fab up something all my own. This is on a whole new level of awesome. I love the form factor! Iā€™m thinking a chest harness might be kinda handy, and nerdy cool. Amazing work!

I guess a name change might make sense?

Yes he will have to change if Synios is not up for the task. Black sun or somethingā€¦ Lets wait and see what Enderman will cook.

CFT-90 driver in development

this is the stage after 90 minutes starting from 2 of my Buck designs to make 8 6A fit

Lexel is another crazy scientist :+1:

Funny design ;).
Have you thought about screw terminals for the led leads? Soldering such big wires isnā€™t always the best way.

The design specification was at least 3x3mm solder pads for the LED wires

That design has no space for screw stuff as it is limited to 5mm total thickness

5 hours of designing this board

Itā€™s certainly very nice that you are actually doing this!

The shape reminded me of this movieā€¦

Thanks  I am still making small improvements to the cooling system, when it is finalized I will post more pictures of it and explain everything.
Currently the tubing Iā€™m using is too thick and stiff, and is pushing on the reflector too much.
Also thereā€™s a tubing run in the way of removing the reflector so Iā€™m gonna need to split the single copper coil into two pieces so that one is water to the LED and one is water back from LED, instead of how it is now, which is coil to the LED and then extra tubing run going back to the pump.

Yeah, it is really unique, very few LED lights that have a recoil reflector, usually it is just short arcs.
I wanted to try new things  Also wanted more lux than the optofire without spending $1000 on a custom lens.

Yeah, I think I will need to do that.
What do you guys think of RecoilBeam?
I will no longer put the name of the LED in the name :stuck_out_tongue: too many possibilities of LED swaps.

Thanks so much for helping me out in making this possible
I wonā€™t need to have a big ugly external driver strapped to the light to use a CFT90!

Lol nice photoshop, you even got the size perfect!

About your water pump, do you have room for a larger one that would have to work less hard?

Nope, there is close to 0 space left!
Itā€™s not getting hot now that itā€™s heatsinked well though.
