Just received my GT and batteries a few minutes ago (via registered mail). It was packaged similar to the others who received it the last few days but the parcels were fine and had no trace of damage or moist. Btw, I giggled like a little girl the first time I picked up the light, it is HUGE .
Today I received the 2 carton boxes by post.
Wauw it’s awesome after so long waiting.
I’m happy that my 2 boxes were okay not too much damaged.
The GT head looks very very nice.
The body with the batteries they are okay and also no damage.
I didn’t have to sign for it, and paid no V.A.T or whatever GREAT!!
Tonight I am gone try and see how it will shine!!!
Nice to see them all turning up for you guys, even if the packaging was a bit pants. Sadly……
Try to move on and just enjoy the GT - pondering on the negative :rage: is just going to impact on your positive time with your new toy.
Get the batteries in, go out for a walk with the family/friends/dog and go out and enjoy what you’ve waited so long for, forget those wet boxes!
17 years ago I worked at fed ex ground part time while in college. My first day on the sorting and truck loading line I came to a couple of well packaged parcels that were marked FRAGILE. I asked the supervisor if a different procedure was needed and he said no no those are going to the country of Fra grille and tossed them roughly into a truck. I smiled and got to work because speed was the only variable I needed to worry about. That company culture was ever present there and I have never knowingly used fedex since.
Mine arrived a couple of minutes ago! Jay!!!
And there is more good news: no fingerprints on the lens or reflector, no bad ano spots, led very nicely centered, it works and the beam is perfect and has a great color.
I love 4000K!
.
Downsides?
.
Uhm……yes, the packaging was so basic its a wonder it arrived without dents or scratches.
I got two seperate boxes, one containing the head and one containing the tube + batt. carriers.
The head was protected buy a plastic fil on the lens and threee pieves of thin foam between lens and cardboard box.
Around the rest of the light was only air, nothing else, nothing the keep it from moving around in the box……… :person_facepalming:
.
The batt. tube was in a seperate box with only the orings and a small leaflet for protection…… :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
.
On top of that: both boxes had some heavy duty staples in them, of which the bare and quiitge sharp points wwere sticking out on
the inside of the boxes…………… :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
.
But, luckily it still came to me in very good condition, I guess I was lucky, but this way to send the light from China to The Netherlands
is an absolute NO GO!!! :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:
It could have reached me with dents and scratches very easily.
.
OK, so now I’m going outside to play with my new toy. :+1: :+1: :+1:
Very dark night with no fog at all. :+1: :+1:
.
Cheers,
Nico

“Basic cardboad boxes with no filling”:
Why there isn’t a drop test video about registered 2 packages made? I know they were in a hurry before chinese new year but when they waited for reflectors earlyer they could have been do that.
Mine is in my country and I hope the best that mine doesn’t have scratches. For me a flashlight doesn’t even have scratches after 2 years of use. The GT will be most of the time on the shelf so even less chance to getting scratched.
Lumintop did the drop tests as agreed on the single boxes that were sent dhl. They originally only wanted to ship single packages through dhl. Only afterwards did they agree to ship some of the lights through various registered mail pathways only after we asked for that option. They did it as a favor to help reduce the fees associated with dhl shipping in some countries. They even attempted to set the value at what some members requested to hopefully slip by customs without incurring extra fees. I guess the answer to your question is that there were never any drop videos made of the two box shipping method because they were not asked to.
You should write novels as have a great fantasy! Conspiracy? I just said two obvious simple things: those ridiculous packages show lack of care for the recipients and lack of respect for the BLF. Period. Despite those stupid packages, the lights arrived in good state anyway? Well, recipients were fortunate, but this doesn’t cancel the lack of care of that people. Also, the fact that I have not still received my flashlight and not even paid for it, does not prevent me to say my opinion about the behavior of who made that packages. No conspiracy, relax, just a protest to the bad packages. I am sure that if you were one of the guys that received a bad package and maybe also a scratched flashlight you would not have written your post! :-))
