Zooming Model List (2018 Updated) Tell us about your newest zoomie!

OK thanks, yeah that sounds great, I probably would have jumped on the b158b had I seen the post.

Awesome! Please let us know some feed back here when you get it in!

Totally off-topic here (not about a zoomie) but your post got me poking around that Severe Cold shop, and this light is very intriguing to me. Even though I’m a big fan of knurling the light is appealing. I’m curious about the finish, (wondering if it’s clear anodize) also wondering if that’s a P60 drop-in.

It shows 14500 in one of the photos but everywhere in the description it shows 18650
EDIT: Lemon from Severe Cold replied and confirmed it indeed is 18650, but he didn’t answer about P60 dropin.

Lemon from Severe Cold replied about the zoomie:

“How many pieces do yo want, brother?

If you need much,we will special provide for you.

Hope to get your understanding.

Sincerely,

Lemon”

FWIW… A few months ago Amazon had that light available as a $5 add-on item. I tried to add one onto my order but it sold out. It was still popping up on their www site as recently as a month or so ago.

Got the same talk with them.

(the flashlight wasn’t available yet)
(some hours or days later it appeared available though. I ordered one)

I am somehow attracted to zoomies, but I see some are missing from the list: Xtar WK007, Severe cold, Fenix FD41, Fenix FD40, Fenix FD45, Brinyte B168, Brinyte B158B, Fenix Fd65. I can’t yet decide whether I like the wide of the TIR lens more than the throw of the aspherics

BTW, has anybody been able to open Fenix FD40/41? I don’t quite like the 6500ish white, but I love the beam profiles.

Hi yasenf, the Xtar WK007, Fenix FD41, Brinyte B168, Brinyte B168B are all on the list, not sure why you’re not seeing them? (The list isn’t in any kind of order) Also the Odepro KL52 is on the list but now we can just get the 168B (same thing)

But yes those other 3 Fenix I didn’t list, thanks for pointing them out! I’ll add them as soon as possible.

The Severe Cold is showing “Sorry, this item is no longer available!” by the seller, but Argo bought one by asking, and I’ve contacted them and they said it’s available, (see posts above) However I’m waiting to see if they’re going to make the listing active again before I add it to the list so I can have a good link.

BTW, the photo you posted isn’t showing up for some reason.

.
Also you may have already seen this but I wanted to post this thread about the FD40 with a lot of photos and comparison to the Zeusray, Warsun X65 and Jax Z1. But I didn’t see anything mentioned about disassembly, I guess that one’s been around for a a while:

Another relevant thread: Any flashlight that has Led lenser zoom system

So funny those messages…

BTW the SevereCold reminded me slightly of this (P7.2) clone:
I didn’t add it to the list because it uses primary’s not Li-ion.
I think it has the same lens system as SevereCold?

The optics in the clones suck, they are far from as good as the real thing.
You can find a lot of tests and reviews on led lenser clones and none give the nice round spot with no spill and almost perfectly uniform wide-angle spill that the real TIR does.

Thanks for the heads up on the clones, do you know who else makes good “real” TIR zoomies? I’d like to try one. The MT10/MT14 do look interesting to me, although I bit pricey. I think those are the only Led Lenser zoomies that run on regular size Li-ion?

Are Coast flashlights still made by the same Mfg as Led Lenser? I have an older “Coast Led Lenser” (Non-zoomie)

I just received my first single emitter TIR zoomie, the Litesam E11Z (Re-branded FiTorch P30Z) it does have a nice round spot but the edges aren’t crisp like the square spots, also has a big dark donut hole at all in-between positions, which basically makes it a a two mode light, full flood or full throw.

The Coast TIRs, at least the one’s I’ve seen, make a combined spot+spill like a reflector light in the zoomed in position.
This is different from the spot-only led lenser TIR.

OK thanks didn’t know. Which Led Lenser model(s) do you have?

.

This MT18 looks interesting, I wonder if it’s really 3000lm. I’ve read they’re pretty much true to spec on their output ratings/claims.
I wonder what emitters they’re using in these MT series.

Thanks for the links, unfortunately no word for disassembly.

Fenix FD 45 and 65 are quite new models, in the FD series they also have 2 more: FD30 - tube light with 18650 battery - I had it, but was not impressed, as well as Fenix FD20 - XP-G2, 2xAA zoomie.

I’ve used a P7, T7, p5r.2, and some other small one.
I EDC the p5r.2
Not really a fan of the new design, but it’s nice that they’re switching to standard 18650 and other liion batteries now.

Fenix added to list:

Fenix FD30 (XP-L HI) 18650
Fenix FD41 (XP-L HI) 18650
Fenix FD45 (XPL-HI) 4x14500
Fenix FD65 (3 x XHP35 HI) NW

A couple of interesting budget zoomies I added to the list:

Alonefire G910 (XM-L T6)
AloneFire TK105 (XP-L V6)

.

G910

The list of zoomies here has grown quite a bit over the past month, now over 75 models listed! I changed the title of the thread to describe it better.

Also forgot to mention Sam’s Club Tasco 400 lumen tactical 3 pack. GF picked this one up for me. Just came out.

Ooh the model number is XR8. Not even listed on Sam’s website. It does list XR7
