[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I recieved one of my lights and are impressed by it. Thanks to the team.

But the packaging for registred shipping was awful. I was worried about the light.
But all in all it seams the light is working.

Thanks again

Yes, to everybody still waiting, it really is worth the wait! In a way, the anticipation is why a group project on BLF is so much fun.

I already booked a weekend away just to make sure that doesn’t happen :stuck_out_tongue:
Fortunately it is so big, she can’t leave the house with the GT without everybody noticing it

@ Djozz, if I shine it in your direction, you might actually see it from your house

I just found out new way to turn off switch light without going to setings for that.
Simply turn it on ,ramp it a little bit up,and then down to the lowest level and as soon as you get lowest output just fast single click to turn it off

Results with no switch lit up,at least for me…

I just tested the current, 2.3Amp@16.4V=37.7Watt. Nice, but now off to the mod topic

Another successful arrival.

First 555, registered mail with batteries, arrived in a single box in Canada

The light is in perfect condition though I was worried by a heavy puncture that went through both cardboard boxes

Minor but noticeable rings on the reflector, nothing I’m worried about because it still has a nice tight spot IMO

I only have one 4 bay charger and these cells are low. I wont be able to do a full strength run untill tomorrow night.

Thanks GT Team

Ha, found it, thanks to the church and the V&D pinnacle lining up so nicely. A bit far for the GT to shine all the way to me but still close
(now back to boring stuff: crunching uv-led output numbers :person_facepalming: )

There are two ways to switch the switch light temporarily off:

  1. from OFF: Switch it ON and OFF
  2. ramp a bit and switch it OFF
For both methods you had to be quick and use a sharp button press ( that fast button press )

Up and down ramping isn’t necessary, but if you like it, nothing against it

Temporarily means: The switch stays dark till the next use.

Received mine today. One box in perfect condition.

I have just tested it on a target at 800m away and it’s noticeably brighter than my TN42 NW. The GT reaches trees behind the target that the TN42 isn’t capable of. Unfortunately i don’t have the gear to take decent beamshots.

I really enjoy the warm tint too. Great, great job GT Team! :+1:

Sorry, but we already have 60 more people signed up than we do lights. We are actually hoping a few more people drop out or decide not to buy so that those who really want it will have a better chance of getting one.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply.

Repost:

In case anyone missed it, I’ll probably repost this every now and then.

I have some news on emitter swaps.

I talked to Richard at Mountain Electronics (RMM on these forums and a sponsor here) and told him there might be more than a few guys with GT’S interested in swapping to a cooler tint. He says that if you send in your stock mcpcb to him and buy one of his new XHP35-HI emitters, he will reflow it for free! He has 2 choices right now, 5,000k and 5700k tint. They are both the same D4 brightness bin as the stock GT 4000k emitter.

The cost of both are under $8, plus the shipping cost there and back. I’m in Texas and shipping a small package from him is usually $2 to $3. So I would estimate the entire cost at under $15.

From his store:

Here is the link to the 5000k.

Here is the link to the 5700k.

If your outside of the USA, then I’m not sure what shipping would be or if he even does international shipping. You’d have to contact him for details.

Hey, I have been away for a while. I am 994 on the list am I getting close to having my GT & batteries shipped?

thx

Did you look at post #1 and fill out that form? Madmax can tell you if you have a tracking number or not. If no tracking number, you might be one of the last 50 folks whose light hasn’t shipped yet.

Lumintop probably has the lights built, but in post 18555 TA said the reflectors aren’t expected until late this week or early next week. So if the reflectors come in early next week, they will probably ship out a few days later.

Thanks for that.

Tonight I went out with Nico to check our GT’s. It was minus 6 degC and quite windy so after 5 minutes out there we called it a day because our hands were too cold to even push a button. But I managed to take this beamshot on one of the huge pilons that carry the powerlines over the IJ, left is Nico’s GT, right is mine. The lighted part is at about 130 meters high up, but because of our distance to the pilon, I estimate the distance at 180 meter. The big hotspot in the sky is the moon.

We could by just visibly hit the other pilon at 700 meter with our GT’s, but they are pretty dark grey so they are not easy targets.

FINALLY MINE ARRIVED! I did Giggle. and the neighbor.

Nice pic’s Djozz :+1:

Best take the Q8 with you next time to warm the hands.

who got tracking number (registered) start with tx0000… like me ?

I’m also waiting patiently.
