I bought a bunch of optics from MTNelectronics but they only have the frosted 10623, which I already have. However, LEDsupply has the even floodier 10624 frosted optic so I ordered from LEDsupply. Can’t wait to test it out.
I just received my 10624 from LEDsupply and simply used a wire cutter to pinch off two legs, which was super easy to do. Now I have an even floodier D4! Very nice!
Has anyone tried the narrower-than-stock 10621 optic from MTN? Since a quad is, by nature, somewhat floody, I thought I’d try the narrow optic. Have a few on the way from MTN so I’ll let ya’ll know.
I don’t think the frosted optic reduces the overall light output. But it will disperse it over a wider area so the light level in middle will be reduced.
I think it does reduce a bit. Even DC-Fix reduces lumens by about 3%, which is not detectable by the eyes. However, if you were to do a ceiling bounce with a floody optics, your measured lux will be significantly lower because it is spread out and not as much of the light reflects back to the sensor.
