What did you mod today?

Based on this comment on another thread I got an Eagle Eye 18350 tube and tested with my HC30. It didn’t make contact, so I used thin strips of aluminium foil roled in positioned around the driver contact edge and a strop on the tail for it to work.

What it looses in waterproofness it gains in cuteness

Hey guys, need advice, have here JetBeam RRT-2 Raptor that I need to open (driver craped out). I have general idea how to do this but that implies applying force and I wouldnt want to screw something up (wrong way)

^it looks beautifully built! And then the driver collapses. What can go wrong with a driver?
(no ideas btw)

Grey Convoy S3 with 45 degree lens. Produces beautiful light from four E21A 5000K mounted on vr16sp4. Inside AMC7135*8 105C (3.04A) running on customized bistro-HD. One AMC7135 is connected to second star (PB0 pin) and firmware is built with support for double PWM, so really low-low moonlight and 380mA mode without PWM.

Full album.

Very nice flashlight g_damian! I assume these leds are the R9080 version?

Thank you, djozz. Yes, they are NVSWE21AT sm503-D220-L2-R9080 from Clemence.

Thrunite Ti4 XHP50

Fixed my XTAR VC4.

CRX, did you mean Ti3?

Looks like fun, I happen to have a Ti3 sitting in a draw somehwhere, great AAA host. Details please, what driver did you use to squeeze 6/12V out for the XHP50?

This is an old titanium Christmas edition from a few years ago UPz Review
I see there is now a completely different light called the Ti4.
There is a thread for it with some more info, click the picture

Got it, 2x10250’s with QTC pill - nice.

Thanks for info on host, so the old Ti4 is real Ti whereas the new Ti3 which looks similar in design is aluminum, go figure.

This thing’s like a Roman Candle bright while it lasts.

I made my first Foybezel™

I had to do it all by hand since i don’t own specialized tools for this, so i grabbed i rough file and step by step used a finer one.
Used 400 grit sanding paper to get it smooth and wetsanded it with an old 1000 grit wetsand.
A quick polish and it looks like this now. Maybe have to do another wet sanding since the polishing shows even the finest scratsches, but i got tired of it and a sore arm and hand, so that’s a job for another time.

Nice.

That is one nice Foy bezel Yokiamy. Well done.

Nice job, you made it smoother than mine!

I put an E21A 2000K 90CRI led in my Tool AA, on one of my 119 boards. Centering is always a challenge with this led but I got it done well. I used a sanded down to paper-thin centerpiece to get the reflector at the correct height, but the hole was too big so it needed some shuffling around until the reflector sat right over the led.

On max: 50 lumen on an Eneloop, 200 lumen (1.6A) on a Soshine 900mAh 14500.

This led is a real reflector tester; in the Olight M10 Maverick I got a perfect beam, in this Tool AA some ringing occurs (Olight:1 - Lumintop:zero).

Another Lumintop meh: at the 3 lumen low on an Eneloop I measured 76mA !! That should be less than 35 if the boosting is anywhere near efficient.

New definition of pocket rocket? :smiling_imp:

Made some minor tweaks to my C8

I have filed down the reflector even more and now the bottom is really thin, just as the gasket, i think this is all i can get out of it, very happy.

To clean it i have rinsed it using running tap water and blew it out using my new dust blower which recently arrived. After that i used 70% rubbing alcohol which i still had lying around (kids…) and used cotton wool which worked great.
Blew it out once again and it ended up really well!

Please scroll up
It’s the standard C8 SS bezel, filed down.
