ThruNite TC20 (Compact XHP 70.2) / Full review

Yea I remember saying those words before………

HAHAHA still over 9 months left……….and lots of new stuff coming out alllll the time. :smiling_imp:

Sometimes I find it impossible to hold back on a purchase if I really like a light. 9 months is a long time still but I've been known to have a lot of will power, but obviously not with flashlights. Last couple of weeks I picked up a ea81, dx80, q8, mf02, tn42 and now the tc20. This madness needs to stop ..... unless astrolux really puts out some winners!

Save me and say that once I have Q8 I do not need TC20

That doesn't work and, I have two Q8's!

robo, your Thrunite cell seems to be wet inside the wrapper, you should probably check into that and possibly set that cell aside as questionable.

looks like a great compact light, and i have always had solid experience using ThruNite products. would anyone possibly know if this will be available in a Neutral White ? i only see a cool white version listed on the ThruNite webstore ....and seems like it is no longer even available for purchase on their webstore until April 15 2018 (not available on Amazon or ebay either) ?? Can one still use the discount code to pre-order ?? thanks all !

If you use their drop down menu where you see CW you will also see the option for NW http://www.thrunite.com/thrunite-tc20-3800-lumen-flashlight/

I used the discount code and it still worked directly on thrunites website.

thanks kirman, that info was most helpful, much appreciated !! think i shall get me 1 or maybe 2 :)

Well, I could not stand it
Ordered and waiting impatiently for the courier.

Anytime! I'm still waiting for mine. Tracking says it will be here tomorrow or Tuesday. I get a feeling it will be my new favorite light to carry everywhere.

Got my CW today and it's a nice solid little light. I can't seem to tell the difference between 1800 lumens and 3800 lumens though. Normally based on my other lights, I should still notice a 2000 lumens jump between 2-4k lumens. I'll try it outside tonight as I have only been doing the ceiling bounce in a dark room so far.

I got the CW and it is has a very heavy green tint on all levels. I'm not convinced my TC20 is 3800 lumens though as I have a Nitecore EA21 and it gets 2150 lumens and when I point it at the mirror and have the reflector look back at me, it is far brighter than the TC20 at 3800 lumens.

Update: I see the problem. I tightened the head as was suggested with this light, and it will go on turbo for about 1/10th of a second and then step down again so I think I have a faulty one. I just found another problem. 1/4 of the emitter is not working at all. I seem to be on a roll with faulty emitters lately.

Turn your battery tube around.

Non anodized threads go to the tail end … seems some of them have been put together backwards from the factory.

Thanks. Just checked, my battery tube is correct. The 1/4 section of the led is ok on the higher modes so it just won't stay in turbo for some reason.

What cell are you using? Sounds like a protection circuit kicking it down when asked to supply too much power…

The one that came with the flashlight. I'm just charging my protected Keeppower and will give that a try in an hour or so when it is charged.

I may be misunderstanding what you are saying here but ……………

Are you saying that 1/4 of the LED is NOT working in some modes?

Yes, on firefly and low mode, 1/4 of the led is not working at all.

Something is wrong with the LED itself then……should all be working in all modes.

This is mine in Moon………

Your led looks fine. I borrowed my wife's camera and not sure how to use it, but here is my pic of the led.

I put a green filter in front of it to make it easier to take a pic of as her camera is iffy.

Yea definitely something wrong there with that emitter.
