[Review] Manker T01 (XP-L HI V3, 1x AA / 14500)

Bought locally here in Manila.

The Fenix protected 14500 does not fit. I have to remove the protection circuit to properly use it with the T01.

For some reasons using a 14500, it cycles through each function and programs without any hitch except that whatever I program in the pro mode gets carried to the general mode. I understand that the general and pro modes are independent of each other. The general mode is L1, M2, H2, T3 and the program mode should be what I programmed it with. But if say I program L3, M3, H3, T3 in pro mode, that same modes appear in general mode.

Also, I can’t seem to make it work with Eneloops. I only get moonlight and another level of brightness plus the SOS, Beacon and Strobe. What gives? Is there any way to reset the FL to factory/default settings?

I think the general and pro modes are programmed together. At least, mine works the same way as yours. So, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with yours on that issue. The only thing pro mode does is give you access to more stuff.

On your other issue, it has some quirks when the battery gets low (I use Eneloops in mine), and modes won’t work properly and it won’t shut off, etc. But removing the old battery and putting in a fresh one has always worked for me. Are you sure you’re using a good Eneloop, with a good charge?

BTW, there is a hidden engineering mode. I don’t think it will “reset” your light, as it’s used to program the brightness of moonlight mode. I forget the sequence to get into it, but a search should turn up the post from Manker explaining it. You could always give it a try.

I see, thanks

Gearbest sells it, but, at full price. I don’t know if there’s a discount code for it, but I recall that Manker complained when it was originally being sold at discount. Manufacturers don’t like distributors to sell below MSRP, unless authorized.

Thanks for the reply and for the clarification about the different modes and programming. Really appreciate it!

I am using the white Eneloops (1900mah), they are fully charged but a bit dated. I’ll try to get my hands on the black ones and see if it works.

About the engineering mode, I read about it and tried it but it does’nt work with 14500. Reports say you can get into it with AAs only.

Thanks!

That’s what I use in mine. If they work in other high-powered lights, they should be fine in the Manker. I’d try different cells just to be sure, but it sounds like your light may be interpreting the NiMH 1.2v cells as lithium-ion 3.7v cells. Or, maybe the boost driver is dead.

Thank you! Will try different cells as you suggest.

For information of other who wants to buy and also to ask some advice: the lowest price I have found so far is at hkequipment, using the general 8% discount is 45 USD. Do you think it’s possible to find a lower price?

Also, do the output improves using an IMR or it’s the same with a non protected UR14500P?

Hey guys
Anyone had the Manker T01 II ?
I was looking for some small 1xAA thrower and this looks good but the previous model had some issues and now i don’t know what to do
Maybe this version II of T01 is better quality ? If someone can help me, please answer if this model has any issues from the previous one ?

I have the original version, and so far it’s been a very reliable light. It has a couple of minor quirks, but nothing I would consider to be bad quality. What issues are you referring to?

Mankert01 can be programmed for each mode brightness like ut01.

Has anyone else found theirs has a high parasitic drain??

No, mine is only 7.3 uA. Even Eneloops self-discharge faster than that.

That’s strange then … unless it’ a dud battery tat won’t hold it’s charge although I was pretty sure I changed it last time it did it in case … I have a couple of their E11’s and they don’t suffer from it at all.

Hello, has anybody ever modded a T01 and swapped the LED?

Thinking about putting in a Nichia 219c for better CRI and warmer tint at the expense of some throw.

I’ve got two of the T01 II’s on order. So I will report how they turn out when I get them.

I have a few t01 II. One has a preflash which the others don’t have. They’re all cool white so someone is getting a nichia upgrade when I find someone to do it. I have them all in programmed mode and they work on eneloops, and Li-ions just fine. On alkalines it won’t go turbo, so I think quality control might be getting better.

I received both of my lights and they both have problems.

These issues are with fully charged Eneloop Pro cells.

Flashlight #1, Has low mode programming problems. I am unable to set low modes as it goes low low, then flickers bright for a second and goes back to low low, then when I go to the last mode in the low mode group it goes to high high! That’s not even a mode that should be in the low mode group!

Flashlight #2 Only goes into High mode and won’t let me change to low or medium. It also won’t let me program it. When I hold the button down to program it for 5 seconds the light shuts off. It wont go into program mode at all.

Here’s the kicker… When using a 14500 cell, both lights behave normally on all accounts!

This is unacceptable. I want to use a AA in it not a 14500. 14500 is just a bonus.

This is my first Manker product and it will be the last. Quality control is pretty lousy.

I’m just going to buy a couple Zebralight SC5c Mk II and hope I have better results.

Here through a random series of searches and discoveries, 4-7 years too late :))

I just read all 5 pages of comments. Really cool to get some history on this light. I love this forum!

anyone have one of these T01 they'd be interested in selling? V1 or v2.

bonus points if someone would sell one of those silver v1's ;)
