Test/review of 10180 100mAh

10180 100mAh

Official specifications:

  • Rated Voltage:3.7V (Limit 2.75v-4.2V)

  • Capacity:100mah

  • Cycle times: about 1000

  • Size: 10*18mm

This is one of the smallest LiIon batteries used in flashlights. I got it from a Chinese dealer and there is no brand on the cells.

Capacity is not as high as rated and there is a capacity difference between the two tested cells. It looks like they can handle about 100mA, before capacity starts to drop.

Conclusion

This is not impressive performance of these batteries, but about what to expect for a cell with very low production numbers.

How is the test done and how to read the charts

This is my first review of small LiIon. I use a another test station where I can run test at very low currents with good precision (Same as I use for 9V batteries).
This also means my scripts for handling this and similar size cells are working now and I can easily test more of them.

Woohoo! You got to 10180 testing!
Thanks HKJ!!!

Thanks for doing this test. This doesn’t look to be a good cell. I have some Veleno Designs brand 10180 cells that can push 1.5A at low LED voltage (in my case, 30x Nichia 119A in parallel). I hope you can test other brands of 10180 in the future (maybe the Veleno Designs one). I’d really like to see better performing Li-Ion chemistry come to the “odd” size cells like this.

Well, we all know these batteries won’t put a Tesla into orbit.
But even I have some lights that use them.
Thank you Henrik!

(somewhat off-topic…)
I notice the batteries are ordered from Unitek2014 @ AliExpress. So it looks like this store does really ship batteries…

I ordered some 14500s from that store (Unitek2014) this Jan 2018.
As of last week Apr 2018, the tracking number they gave had no updates. I opened a dispute in AliExpress and they quickly refunded… I suppose their 14500s (I ordered their 750mAh and 900mAh rated 14500s) probably might not be as good as their nominal capacities… but I won’t know since they never shipped to me…
