BLF After Dark, CSS theme [not relevant anymore]

I’m not a fan of bright white high-contrast web designs. I find it more more comfortable to read some dimmer lower-contrast greys.

Kinda goes with being photosensitive, I guess. I can see well in the dark, but I can’t really see during the day unless I have dark sunglasses.

Kudos for this After Dark theme! I always wondered what dark skinned BLF would look like.

Thank you!

TK, Which line do I edit to change the color of the “NEW” and “UPDATED” markers that show next to thread titles? It currently shows as deep red and I find it hard to see, probably due to my partial color blindness.

EDIT: Found it. It's this section:

Ah, interesting. Those only appear in a part of the interface that I don’t use. Hadn’t even noticed those were there.

The “new” markers I configured are bold black text on a red shadow. Thin red text on a grey background was probably inherited from an earlier version a few years ago, before BLF’s code got updated.

I’ll have to remember to fix that.

Another question: product descriptions below images in the screenshot below are unreadable. They do become readable when I hover my mouse over them. How do I change that font color in your CSS?

Thanks!

Link to that specific thread, although it’s not the only one with that issue:

You can probably do something like this to remove the shadow from links in those posts…

/* override style for people who insist on using too much CSS in their posts */
div.posted-by-9004 a {
    text-shadow: none !important;
}

That helped. Thank you.

So nice! thx :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

There are still a few bits here and there which aren’t re-styled correctly, but it mostly works. Some of the table border lines, in particular, haven’t responded easily to overrides, and I haven’t tracked down the reason why.

I also have a few little extras locally, like to remove the search box. I had kinda forgotten it’s even there, since I’d rather type a bit more during a search than have the widget always taking up space.

Le sigh.

New Drupal, gotta redo the theme again.

Maybe in a few days. That blood moon eclipse was exhausting, so I’m taking some extra time off.

Stylish became malware/spyware, and was removed from Chrome’s extension library. Use Stylus instead.

also stylish was removed a month ago from firefox and chrome web store due to security issue

Hmm, it may just be that. I forgot to update to Stylus on this computer, and it appears to have finally disabled itself.

Last night BLF was really really slow and it seems magically better today, and the style override stopped working, so I thought it was a server-side update… but it may just be an outdated client.

Screen…

… so

………bright!

Aaaaaggghhhhhhh!!!

Okay, confirmed. BLF’s stylesheet didn’t change… it’s just that Chrome-based browsers started disabling Stylish because it was bought and became spyware.

So, to get things working, uninstall Stylish, install Stylus instead, and do everything else the same as before.

Thanks TK, screen looks SO much better! :smiley:

:+1:

Sorry my CTE is acting up :weary: but I am unable to get this to work. I have Stylus installed and enabled. I am still using FF56 cause anything later breaks 90% of my addons. I had Stylish working before FF disabled it … I tried to read the whole thread but it only confused me. Can you point me to a post that specifically explains what I need to do or maybe provide a CSS file that I can import? Thx TK

FYI, I use FF56 as well.

If you already have Stylus installed and enabled, then go here:

And then click “Install Style”.

IIRC, that’s all there is to it.

At this point you can further tweak it to your liking. For example, I made some of the colors slightly brighter as I was having a hard time seeing certain text.

Thanks Pete…. I was playing around with it before I read your post and I got it to work although I am not sure if it is safe.
I re-enabled Stylish and exported the BLF info, then imported that into Stylus and disabled Stylish again …. I checked and it is working like it used to BUT is that okay or is some of that code vulnerable?

Edit: After doing the above and reading your post I went to the http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1358466/edit link you provided and clicked the link ‘Install style as userscript’ ………. would that have overwritten the other script? Sorry for the confusion…. CTE makes my brain disfunctional! :weary: :weary: :weary:

Thanks for the help

Being awake makes my brain dysfunctional… :confounded:
