Astrolux MF03 interest list

Well, thing started to go sideways, significantly, so I just wanted to remind people (with some pics, they always draw attention) what is this thread about.
Besides, it would be rude to say something like “hey guys, this is the MF03’s interest list thread, wanna talk, go elsewhere”…
Also, its a very nice looking light, no harm in posting some pics of it, right?

I’m not signing up because it looks like it’ll be considerably outside of my usual budget-minded limits. But still very cool. Astrolux is totally rocking as of late.

Interested in one.

Thanks.

Interested, depending on price

Any update on the MF03? Is this GB going to happen?

prototypes are on the way

Looks interesting

I cant wait lol . Another to lite the sky on fire

Looks like everything the DX80 should have been. Can't wait to know the price.

interested…

I really hope this one is mod friendly and not glued like the MF01. Looking at how TA can get 23k lumens on the MT09R with three 4000k 80CRI XHP70.2, I would be excited to see what someone like TA, Lexel, or Vinh can achieve with eight 70.2 emitters on this thing. Maybe 60k+ lumens is possible!

When trying to calculate the maximum lumens based on other lights, you have to multiply by the lowest common denominator or by the limiting factor. So it might be better to think of 23000 lumens per 4 x 18650 batteries. Or better yet, 33A at 6v per 4 x 18650 batteries.

Keep in mind that an xhp70.2 can potentially do 9k lumens. So in theory three of them could do 27k lumen. So if we’re only getting 23k there has to be something restricting it. In this case it’s the batteries.

The MF03 uses 8 x 18650 which in theory could provide 66A at 6v. If we spread that over 8 xhp70.2 that is 8.25A per emitter. 6,300 lumen x 8 = 50,400 lumen. So even though 8 x xhp70.2 could do 72k lumen in theory, I think 50,400 lumen is the maximum possible for 8 x 18650.

Knowing that Astrolux doesn’t normally build FET drivers, especially not high end ones like TA builds, nor do they typically bypass springs, etc… I am actually expecting 30k lumen or so from the MF03.

Lexel has said he can probably build a dual driver for this light, so maybe we can expect to see over 40k lumen from that. Maybe 45k?

Anyway, just some theories to think about.

Do we have a price estimate on this?

nope

In that case I am interested

I’m interested, too. I must confess, I’m not sure if I posted my interest in this flashlight already…haha.

Definitely interested.

Interested.
