I wonder how much those guys at CPF made him shell out for a DMM, telling him anything else would burn his house down. At least he shops at DX and Dino.
Is it Kreisler? It's got to be a German if they are talking about taschenlampen.
I laughed a little, but the writers over the top tails of danger and out of contex information makes me realise how far down the food chain the Huffington Post has fallen. I suspect his other works because for a month of research he didn't learn much.
I think people are taking the article like it's meant to be some sort of breaking news, it's clearly not and more a commentary on life. It's informative and light hearted, the style suits it's target....more factual and he'd only have us reading it not the general public.
Man ... I start to think flashaholics aren't as bright as the article would suggest. Maybe this post together with this wiki-link will brighten the darkness.
Ha! This is like one of those mystery movies where you are dying to find out "whodunnit" and in the end you find out that person was right in front of you all along!
It's a great article about a hobby (or at least the intensity of a hobby) that most people don't realize exists. Was it front-paged at Huffington Canada, or was that just because that's how I got to their site? I like the BLF shout out.
But you can feel that he is a novelist.... making a big fuzz and being overly dramatic on an otherwise dull subject like battery safety. At least we have a reference outside flashlight forums whenever our little hobby is called dull or uninteresting. Maybe we get a Hollywood blockbuster with a title like "flashlight - terror from the charger" starring keanu reeves who dodges exploding flashlight parts in matrix style. ;-)
It has an Anthony Bourdain, tell it the way it is, in your face, don't care if I offend you, you can kiss my arse kind of flavour to it. Instead of Kitchen Confidential, call it Lumen Confidential if I may. I like it.
Maybe some of you are taking some of it a little too literally or not reading the whole editorial. He starts off with the shock factor with exploding pipe bombs, insults, while all along he's talking about himself.
