Maximum temperature raise at different discharge currents: 1A:+0,3°C, 2A:+0,6°C, 3A:+1,3°C, 5A:+2,6°C, 7A:+3,6°C, 10A:+4,7°C, 15A:+5,3°C
This is low capacity D cells from one of the big brands and as can be seen on the photos the capacity is with a fairly discrete font.











The two cells matches fairly well and can deliver the rated capacity. At high current they are considerable better than AA cells.















Conclusion

These batteries do not have more capacity than AA batteries, but are better at high current. They feel very lightweight and my guess is that they contain a smaller cell inside.

Judging by the 2,600 reviews on Amazon, they are certainly popular. About a third of the cost of two Powerex D cells, but also 1/4 the capacity.

Yes too bad they could not have made them at least 5000mAh. Still in some applications better than messing with an AA in an adapter.

Not AA, but a Sub-c cell.

Did you open it?

Last time i had to deal with sub-Cs they where nowhere close to 2500mAh… but they where cheap ones.

I will probably open it when the weather get better, I prefer to open batteries outside.

Totally looks like a sub-C cell spot-welded inside.

Those ratings are definitely BS.
Even high end sub-C cells for RC are 5000-6000mAh max.

A few years back when I built a lot of maglites with D cells, about the best D Nimh cell was the Powerex 11000mah from Maha Energy. Not cheap at all.
I guess you have to pay for the extra capacity. Too expensive for me to buy 4 to run in a mag. If your up for it HKJ it be nice see these tested. From what I have read they generally give more than 11000mah at low currents. Can’t find any hard data to back that up though.
