Thanks! I can’t remember where I was seeing this price before, (Thought it was on their website) but I could swear it included the battery. That listing shows: “Battery not included”
I see another ad that includes the battery.
Manker U22 1500 Lumen CREE XHP35 HI LED Flashlight Fast charging USB Type-C Pocket Torch 4800mAh 21700 Rechargeable Battery $69.95 http://s.aliexpress.com/fEfumMZZ
I’m sure I saw this for $55.95 with the included cell, because I posted about it in another thread. I’m beginning to think it was a presale on mankerlight.com?
It looks like Manker might be using the Samsung 48G:
Hi someone asked me to comment on my U22, so here are some initial observations. First I’ve only played with this light a few times over a couple weeks, and I just took it outside for it’s first side-by side comparison.
I bought this light first and foremost because it ran on a 21700, second because it had USB-C charging, 3 because it was a bit of a thrower and I tend to not have many of those; I’m more of a nice clean flood beam person. Lastly I don’t need this light for anything in particular so I can’t judge how it does, or does not, meet any specific need.
First maybe the obvious; this style of light tends to be a bit front heavy, and this one feels similar, but it does balance just behind the switch so it’s a bit more comfortable to use than I expected. The light is quite small so you can easily pocket this thrower in a coat pocket.
As mentioned earlier in this thread I believe, the button is quite sensitive so you’ll want to secure the light during carry so the button cannot easily be activated, or unscrew the tailcap a bit to serve as a lockout. Having to lock it out can be a deal breaker for some use-cases.
The Manker UI is what it is, love it, hate it, I can get along with it if I need to, but long-press for off is not something I really like.
The construction of the light seems fine, I purchased mine without the Manker battery, and just use a bare Samsung INR21700-48G flat-top and it works fine. I have not tried the USB-C charging yet, but I will soon just for a test. I won’t use the internal charger on a regular basis unless I get a protected battery for the light, and that is not likely to happen. Overall a nice looking light.
For a quick test i decided to put it side-by-side with a Convoy L4 I have. I don’t remember buying that light, but someone on here must have convinced me to try it.
The light is roughly 1.5cm shorter than the L4, I didn’t measure it, but I like that it is more compact. The inner diameter of the bezel is almost equal to the outer diameter of the L4 bezel. Makes for a nicer looking light and a cleaner beam.
Just looking a the U22 High compared to the top level on the L4, the L4 has a slightly tigher beam and it throws farther. With the U22 on Turbo I found the throw to be essentially equal for visual purposes. This test was not too detailed, but I was surprised that there was not a larger difference between the U22 and the L4 XM-L2.
The color temperature of my Neutral-White U22 was cooler than the XM-L2 in the L4; the L4 tint was slightly nicer outdoors imho, but the U22 was still very acceptable to me. And the clean beam was overall nicer.
Well I’m a flood type of guy, so I don’t know that I would say this light has a good combination of throw and flood, but there is some flood that hit the ground just a few feet away, far enough to still give a bit of that tunnel look, but it was pleasant enough. Quite clean, not a lot of rings that can typically be distracting in the near field. the business end of the light is a good design, better than the L4.
It’s by no means a pencil beam so I think most would say a good balance, but for me a light like the TK35 has a balance more to my liking with the reach powered by pure lumen output.
I think the best we could hope for is $55 with the cell included, I believe that was the presale price when this thread began, that package is now $69.95, however we can still get the light without battery for $55.95
Oh well, I missed how that was a pre-sale price. The price hike is bad.
I PMed M4D M4X and Freeme, the former said he’ll see what he can do. He has some codes for other Manker lights…
I got no further info from M4D M4X yet, but noticed that he has a general code for flashlights on HKE which drops the price by 8%. That’s still over my budget though…
Regarding the battery from a non fanatic. just an old collector.
18650’s do 99.9% of all battery requirements,
up to the real high output hand held torches.
Those. would be better served (I think) with the existing 26650’s.
Which I also prefer with a larger? stronger light.
Hand gripping wise.
They give Higher capacity. Longer life. With a more comfortable grip in my hands, which are average sized.
WHY go backwards for some novelty?
I can’t see there being much actual extra power\longevity in realtime from a 20700. over a top quality, high capacity\output 18650 cell 3600 to 4000ish, on paper, (with 5500mA in a 26650)
for the costing it would take for a changeover to.
IE Not enough extra anything.
ALL I do is take a spare battery in my pocket. (simple).
With a clear S2+ or little Jetbeam Pro as backup in other pocket.
On longer walks I have the choice of 3 x 26650 cell torches.
2 of them are optional battery 18650\26650.
