[PART 2] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Closed, but Public sales open!

Here's how I can see one way in using the Giga Thrower.

Being a pilot, I fly day and/or night. One night I was on final approach into a county airport and while on descent someone turned off the runway and taxiway lights. The airport was basically blacked out. Being experienced and prepared, I grabbed my 6 D cell Maglite, (it being incandescent) which was the cats meow back then, out of my flight bag and shined it out the cockpit to light the runway. My altitude was 400 feet and dropping fast and my light caught 3 deer on the runway. As soon as they saw the light hit the runway from my Maglite, they b-lined into the trees. I didn't have to abort the landing and was able to see the landing strip and land without any incidence. While the Maglite did ok in getting me down, the GT would have really been the light to have if it had existed back then.

You can rest assured that the Giga Thrower will always be in my flight bag.

PS. The reason that the landing runway lights went out was due to the local police shutting them off because they thought that my plane was smuggling in contraband/drugs. I filed a a complaint against them and those involved were dismissed from the police force for reckless endangerment of life.

But I will say that the police thought they had something when I basically landed a twin engine with an incandescent flashlight. The officer commented to me that he never saw anything like it.

I have other uses for the GT that I will post here but let's hear from you too.

LOL, good story^

Neal wanted me to remind people that if you order the GT bag + Cap you will get a strap with it already, you do not need to purchase another strap separately unless you want to.

LOL yes, I almost ordered the extra strap and then realized that I would be able to use the one on the bag. Great that you mentioned this although the price that he is asking for the extra strap is not unreasonable at all.

Hot Dang! Ordered. Thanks, guys!

Is it okay to do a separate transaction for a donation? Because I missed it when I placed my order.

Yes, this is fine.

I’ll second that. $875 divided among 10 people, for over a year’s worth of organising? I’m sure we can do better than that!

One share alone isn’t enough for all of the work some of the volunteers have done in a single day. It is appreciated.

Been wracking my brain trying to think of something witty to say. Other than I’ll probably frighten the neighbors with it, I got nuttin.
There’s a nice open field off one side of my back yard with some structures off in the distance just begging to be lit up and compared to my other lights. I cant wait to do that.

Ordered pretty much one of everything…except the donations, ordered more of those  You guys certainly do deserve it.

Hey guys, I PAID. Updated my paypal e mail. But old e mail is on invoice receipt. Email is needed to confirm payment. PMed Neal and support@lumitop.com No answers. Any suggestions? Thanks.

#1235 - Ordered, Paid, Donated, Replied to Neil's email with ID and phone number.

Again, many thanks to everyone's work involved. You all went well above and beyond with the GT.

I don't recommend doing this but has anyone noticed how bright and bigger looking animals eyes seem to be when the GT is lighting them up? It actually made me feel bad after I did it to a herd of whitetail deer but I had to leave it on them for a few seconds just to be sure it wasn't a fluke. They really looked a lot brighter/bigger than ever before. In PA we are allowed to drive around with a spotlight looking for them until 11PM. Its something I don't usually do but I was out testing the GT and couldn't resist on the way home. With the GT I won't shine any of them that are too close anymore.

There might be a little problem with donations.
I donated 10 initially but only one was taken.
Went back today to retry and only one dollar was going to be taken again in paypal.
So went back to the page and 3 dollars were showing up in cart, corrected this and success on the third occasion.
Ordered all the items in the initial transaction, and looking forward so much to recording them.
Thanks for the privilege.

Receiving them even

I have the tracking code
It’s not working yet

I hope things are finally going in the right direction

I would wait for Neal to get back to you. He has already had over 120 orders last I checked so needless to say he is having a hard time keeping up.

Ordered, with all the extras, paid, donated, Replied to Neil’s email.

After waiting patiently all this while, now comes the part where I get to check my e-mail/tracking 500 times a day. Like a kid awaiting Christmas.

My thanks to TA and ALL of the Giggles team.

And I keep asking myself, why didn’t I get 2??! Or 3…

Lol

I understand that particularly for batteries in series, it is important to keep them balanced, and not split up the set. Since I assume that there will be people who are planning to power the GT with both the short and the long tube from the same original set of batteries - splitting up the original eight cells into two sets and draining both sets of four cells unevenly - I was wondering how important it is to follow that rule when it comes to parallel configurations?

We are talking about two parallel 50Wh batteries, which seems like a fair bit of energy. Would it be inviting disaster not to keep a separate set of four cells handy for the short tube?

Hi Team,

I got a PM about the group buy for my last two lights, but in the PM where it says “here is your link” and “Password” It’s just blank.

The most important thing is that the 4 cells in each carrier match.

Each set of 4 cells should match but unofficially will work as long as the voltage is the same between them. So if all 8 cells are fresh off the charger and you put 4 matching cells in each carrier, this should be fine.

I have been using my GT like this since the start.

That said it is not recommended and is unofficial, just my experience.
