I bought cheap “GENUINE XHP70” led lamp from aliexpress (as starting point to my own project with XHP70). Here are pictures. Is this genuine led ? i don’t think so. Is it bright ? yes. Is it good ? I don’t know

It is no known Cree-LED.
Definitely not a XHP70 (or 50) in any way. must be some kind of new knock-off, or just a odd-ball un-branded LED. The dies size look close to that of a CREE MC-E emitter, but its not one of those either.
i recieved genuine XHP70.2 XHP70B-00-0000-0D0BN40E5 from farnell. By comparing these two there are few major differences :
1) light emittors are up to 3 times bigger than chinese
2) “dome” (i don’t know exact name) is not that clear as is on chinese copy
3) you can not see supply traces on support pcb
4) there is one dot and one rectangle instead one dot
5) there are almost invisible spaces between emittors. Chinese has huge gaps.
I am posting this question here because I didn’t want to create a separate thread just for this question. This emitter is from a genuine CREE spotlight, and I can’t find any information on it. My first impulse was to call it a CXA1603, but I can’t find any information on that emitter.
BTW, I once read somewhere a couple of years ago that CREE was planning on using non-CREE emitters is some of their light bulbs to keep cost down. So i suppose it is possible that this is a “fake” CREE emitter in a genuine CREE light :confounded:

But this one doesn’t match up with any of those.
Diameter of the COB is 14mm while the metal substrate is 18mm. Measured voltage while running is 67.8V
Also they are calling this a high CRI light.
It would be interesting to see how far one of these can be pushed. As it is driven now it is rated at 850 lumen.
Maybe it was a special version/model of the CMA series they make for only use in their LED light bulbs running on the 120 volts line-voltage, (with a voltage reduction circuit) and not available as a separate component? difficult to know in that case.
Well after searching and searching I have concluded that this emitter is not made by CREE but rather made for CREE using their patents. I suspect that CREE licensed the technology and outsourced the manufacturing to an outfit in CHINA.
Bet THAT’S never happened before, right? 
Here is the UPC code and statement Made in China and Manufactured for Cree, Inc.
If that is true, then is this a “fake” Cree emitter?
I don’t think so, its could just be called a Cree emitter made by someone else

This is an example of the first Cree light bulbs that I know of. This first iteration, like other brands, had heavy ribbed heat sinks at the base for long life (23.8 years) LOL
Later on Cree came out with the cheaper to make “4Flow” bulbs that were vented but had no sink
These older bulbs were actually made by Cree, the newer “4Flow” were made for Cree
1603 is a date code I assume week 3 of 2016, does not have Cree logo so not cree

These do look like another variant of either latticebright or other fake/clone of XM-L2 LEDs.

This is genuine Cree led.
This is unknown.
As far as I can see the Cree is a little bigger and there is no this little square in the dome, also grey area around the dome on Cree is like OP reflector, and on unknown is like SMO.
The fakes all seem to have a smaller die, and most have square bond wire pads where genuine Cree LEDs have round pads.

You think this 2 wires that are touching the LED ?
The 2 bond wires on the side of the LED die is the most notable indication for most of the fake ones, the real Cree ones have the round pads like the pic above.
