Nice collection. I have two 20V Dewalt drills and really put them through the ringer but they are still working without glitches. Dropped them numerous times from the roof too without problems.

Thanks. I’ve been a tool freak most of my life. I do my best to keep them as close to mint as possible. Here’s a Milwaukee drill I’ve owned for 35 years. It still looks close to new. Believe it or not, it does get used on occasion.

I love old school quality equipment where for example the box and trays are painted metal, whereas today they would have been made from cast plastic. Not that cast plastic is bad, it’s just the vibe of the old days is nice to experience if you know what I mean.

I’m big into old school tools. I have an old Porter Cable reciprocating saw that came with a metal case although it’s not in great shape. It’s been sitting in my damp garage for years and it got a bit rusty. BTW, I was just on Milwaukee’s website. They still make my drill, but they no longer include a case. The new version is 0 to 700 rpm’s. Mine is 0 to 850 rpm’s. That’s the only difference.

I made a mistake. I did a google search with the model #. The current version is 0 to 950 rpm’s, but has slightly more power. The new version is 5.5 amps vs 4.5 amps on mine. Maybe in the end they are both equil in torque? Unfortunately the current versions are made in China.

Nice drill atbglenn, I like. I have a 25 year old green Bosch drill that has seen so much construction work and abuse that it shouldn't be alive but it still is. If I remember well, I only changed the brushes and that was it. Some of the vintage tools were built like tanks. I have two Milwaukee tools, a 12 inch dual bevel sliding compound mitre saw and a 4.5 inch angle grinder. The mitre saw seems indestructible, but after 6 days of 5 hrs a day grinding in a row with the angle grinder, the gears in the head completely shattered. Milwaukee here in canada gives a 5 year warranty and I got it repaired free of charge. Then I used it again and a week later blew the gears again, so I would say some of their angle grinders are built really crappy and many of their other tools are built to last.

I agree on the Dewalt choice. I have many 20V which I’m happy with.

Butt I’m hoping to get away from gasoline entirely.

I have a Husqy 324L weedwhacker which has been great for many years and is the easiest pull starter and 4cycle quiet operation unit I’ve found. Lately it’s been stalling/flooding,. I will do a tuneup on it as it is a great unit.

Got the wife a real weedwhacker with the Dewalt 20V that she uses around her flower beds. No more wires to deal with.

Butt I view the 60V Dewalt trimmer as a replacement for the Husqy. And that is a whole different story. Anyone have an opinion?

ProbeMaster test lead kit and a USB cable for my DMM…

A close friend of mine who’s going back to California tonight, gave me a very generous gift for my 66th birthday which is tomorrow, May 2nd. They make great home theater PC’s. Now I’ll have one for my bedroom, living room, and my kitchen. Before you say anything like Macs are out of date. I know that. But they’re still awesome little PC’s which shine in a home theater environment. I’ve been using them since 2006. Never had a problem with any of them.

Got two more 20 volt, 5 amp hour Dewalt XR batteries.

Hey happy birthday Glenn Man!!!

Thanks my friend! 66 years old today. I’m getting up there, luckily still heathy. Zero physical issues. Mentally, well that’s another story :confounded:

Hey Glenn,

Have a Great and very Happy Birthday!!!

Richie, thanks for the happy birthday shout out. It’s been ages since we’ve spoken. I hope all is well with you and your family!

Happy birthday Glenn and only 66 years young too

Kirman, Thanks pal. I really appreciate your birthday greeting

Pete, looks like a nice test probe kit. I have several myself I got my local electronics store. I forget the brand name because I bought them years ago, but they work great. The quality seems better than the Fluke test leads that came with my meters.

Happy birthday Glenn!
Got my massdrop gent today. Awesome little knife. Happened to be serial# 0328, and my birthdays March 28.

Hey Pulsar, Thanks my friend! I hope all is well with you. I haven’t seen you around here much lately. Just wishing you the best… Thanks again!

Been doing good, just kind of laying low. Trying not to spend too much on lights or other gear lately.
Got a new riding mower last week. Troy bilt super bronco xp 50.
Our gazebo got destroyed in a wind storm last fall, so needed a replacement… Ordered a new one of them and a new grill.
New grill is a 4 burner char broil commercial Tru infrared.
Lowe’s card took a hit lol.

I’ve been spending way too much money lately on tools. I admit I’m a tool freak. I’ve been one since I was a kid. I blame it on my dad. He owned a hardware store from the early 1950’s, till the early 1980’s when he had to retire due to illness. Anyway, I’m glad you’re ok.
