Wow! Those are very good results and very well done beamshot by TA. :+1: :+1:
I am guilty of no contribution of beamshot with GT. In severe procrastination mode nowadays.

Were those mods done on the stock driver?

Texas_Ace

Yep, been there, done that. I ended up deciding that while a .45 is fun on the range, it is too big and cumbersome for an EDC. So I moved over to the 9mm. Then you have all the variations like .40, .357 sig, 5.7mm ect that would make it even harder to decide if they were cheap enough to consider.

I have wanted to do that as well although I am going to guess the results will be basically the same throw with a lot less lumens based on the numbers. The biggest issue is the mcpcb, finding one that would fit and be 12v could be difficult.

Is anyone else concerned about build quality and QC issues with the GT?

I am concerned that there will be significant variations in how each LED and reflector will be focused and getting a GT that is true to spec will be somewhat of a lottery… I read somewhere in the 1st batch a member ordered 2 GTs, one for himself and one for his dad and the one for his dad was visibly less focused and had significantly less throw than his. He had to adjust the height of the LED or shave the base of the reflector on his dad’s GT to get it to focus properly….

I think I was the only person that tried to alter the reflector height to try and improve the focus. I noticed my black centering ring had a small warp underneath it which made the reflector sit a little higher then I think it normally would. So I sanded down that black spacer so that it’s middle area was nice and flat.

I don’t think it made any type of noticeable difference in the size of the hot spot or corona.

It might have been too small of a change to actually see and unfortunately, I didn’t take any lux measurements before or after.

I remember the situation that you’re referring to, but I don’t remember the outcome. It might have just been an instance where one reflector had a slightly smoother finish than the other reflector which created some type of visible difference. I can’t remember if the hotspot size was changed or if it was only a change in the corona size. Maybe someone else can say more on the subject.

Besides the reflector smoothness, which will always be a compromise between quality, cost and speed, the overall build quality and quality control is very high. When you hold it in your hands or take it apart, it looks and feels every bit of a 300 to 400 dollar light. I think everyone agrees on that.

(My honest opinion. No, I don’t work for Lumintop. Lol)

Yes Jason, I think it was your post I read… it unsettled me a little bit. But I guess if you say nothing to worry about, its good enough for me. Thanks for responding!

Just got a text from DHL saying that my package from Lumintop has been shipped.
Awesome ! I might have it this week then.

Thanks to everyone involved in this project that made it happen. You are awesome !

The 1337 meister!
Good to hear.

Haha, yes boss :face_with_monocle:

Same here, and a message that EUR37 in duty and fees is due.
Sad thing is that half of it is fees to DHL, witch is just crazy. On the other hand i now know DHL has the light and all the processing forward will be very “german”.

I got a text saying dhl will be delivering a package by the 4th of the 5th , patience is a vertue grasshopper.

Nice ! Very exciting

The weird thing is that I can’t see any expected delivery date. Nothing in the text, or on DHL website.

Thus far there have been no widespread reports of any issues with the GT, just a few cases of random issues here and there. Less then I would of expected with a deal this big honestly. I have been very impressed so far.

How do you get the messages from DHL when it ships? Is this automatic or do you open a DHL account for it?

Automatic.

to all who bomb our mailboxes

due to another holidays in China (labor day) and because it's China Neal has not gotten the tracking numbers yet...

Excellent

Hi…
I called my local DHL office and asked if there was anything coming to my address and to my great surprise it was … :+1:
So in other word, it is on its way.
Still in Hong Kong, no ETA yet… :weary:
But soon…
