Review: UKING AAA Penlight

U`King ZQ – X1015 Pen Light Portable – BLACK

I will be honest this is not going to be the most eye opening review but I figured I have to start somewhere. I noticed this AAA flashlight because it was on a major sale and when I mean “major sale”, I mean that it was cheaper than any other flashlight at that time. I actually shared my findings with fellow BLF’s and not surprisingly I encountered a lot of skepticism.

So I went ahead and I bought one to see if it’s worth the 69 cents it cost me to get it delivered from GB.

It is actually pretty nice for the money, very light, decent output with an alkaline AAA
and will not get hot, so you can use it for a long walk. Paying full price would be another story obviously. The SF-348 is a little bigger, heavier and more powerful but also cost 4x.
The Uking has a little greenish hello around the warmer hotspot, compared to the 348 that is cool white.

I carry the UKING as a backup and it actually has a decent output for about 50 feet.

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a couple of these, really cool! What was the deal price you got them for? I usually see them for around 2-3 USD and thought they were a total waste of money but shall definitely give them a try now.

I’ve got a couple of these under-$2 1xAAA lights too, unbranded, but probably same thing under the hood, they are actually decent for what they do…

nice to keep in the car, look around on the floor, hold with mouth or teeth

wle

OOOHHH… I might have to get one a couple a few of these!

The Uking was 69 cents. I think you can get better stuff for 2-3, like the SF-348,

Oh yea they are light enough to keep them in your mouth.

And pretty safe

People call single AAA lights pen lights but I always thought a 2 x AAA was a penlight and a AAA light as a keychain or just a tiny light .
These are the bad clones of the hugsby xp-1 which was blown out years ago at like 2$ a piece and replaced with …a clone that does everything worse .:stuck_out_tongue:
i have a few xp-2’s and just yesterday was wondering why I wasn’t smart enough to have snagged a handful of the hugsby’s before they disappeared …But 65 cents is a nice price for anything with threads on one end and glass on the other.

Source for those lights? I would like to get a few or even less than $2.
Thanks, Jerry

I just remembered these type of lights were originally called Hugsby XP-1 and XP-2 and were very good quality and went on to have such a reputation that soon there were clones and clones of clones.

Doh! Just realized I just kinda repeated what you said. :person_facepalming:

Where do y’all see 65 cents? I see 6.5 USD :frowning:

The Hugsby XP 1 was an excellent light to gift. Some clones are also good, but the price has gone too high.
Jerry

I notice that there are some on ebay for around $2 each. I have bought some “Enjoydeal” and unbranded. I have not encountered any problem with any of them.
Jerry

Thanks for pointing that out, I actually thought it is a lumintop Tool AAA clone

but you are right it definitely looks like a Hugsby

I didn’t want to post a link to promote anything or anybody, I got it for 69 cents a while back, I think the promotion expired:
