This is what happens when you give free lights to flashaholics. I’ve noticed there’s already a few reviews up on the new version of this light, so here’s another:
I’m not even going to attempt to compete with the quality of other reviewers out there. Even the worst of them out do my studio’s capabilities since it does double doody as my bed. The light is well built, with thick walled battery tube, thick bezel, and tail switch with solid click. I don’t do mods, so breaking it down completely will end with me curled up in the corner sucking my thumb trying to figure out how to put it back together. There are indentations for using split ring pliers to unscrew the pill and tail switch.
It has springs at both ends so throwing a flat top in got me up and running immediately. I don’t have reason to doubt the 1100 Lumen claim coming from the xp-l led while using on a vtc5a. You can not however use 2 x cr123a’s in it because of voltage limitations.
Not the latest, greatest, or best of the bunch, but I purchased the original vg10 for $12 each. For Somewhere between $12-24, It would make a great disposable tactical light that you could throw anywhere (bag, car, closet) while unscrewing the tail will prevent battery drain assuring it won’t turn on wherever you store it.
Thank you Thorfire for the substantial discount. Sorry Thorfire for my lousy review skills. Something gets lost between my what I’m thinking and what I’m writing.
