What did you mod today?

I did not had time for any flaslight modding for 10 days now. I was modded my house. 75% finished of complete roof replacing rebuilding.

Today I just had time for replace the MCPCB to a copper one in my S2+ UV.

Pics or it didn’t happen.

CRX, is it glow paint on the centring ring? Or is it made from glow plastic?

I have a video here.

Glow tape cut out with a scalpel

You’re too funny Steve!

Liked the  at the end from the neighbor, lol, sent him running didn’t it! hahahahaha

It did happened. My wife’s dad has this job for 20 years so he done most of the work because he know how to make a roof so I just helped and did what he told me. I thenk him a lot for his help!
Still have a lot work with it but I think the hardest part is complete.

Y’all must get a lot of snow huh? What is that, a 10/12 pitch? Pretty steep! Glad I’m not the one doing that! Second thought, looks like it may even be a 12/12! (We don’t get snow, our roof is 4/12…)

Bet you’re gonna enjoy having a new roof over your head! Kudo’s to F-I-L for all the hard work! :+1:

Sometimes we have almost no snow in a whole winter but sometimes we have 10-12 inch in one day. 3-5 inch is normal. Most of the houses built like tis roof pitch here. The old roof was full of wasps so we needed to be careful and exterminate most of them a few days earlier than the work.

Yikes! So you also modified a bunch of wasps into ant food.

Has been a while since I did any roofing… did two of them with my father, and one was 11/12 pitch. That was a PITA because we couldn’t stand on it without causing damage. At least it only took us one windy morning to discover the importance of tying the top of the ladder to something… I had to climb down a rope. :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose your father had to get you to put the skylights in, huh TK? You know, so the moonbeams could illuminate the rooms? The work of a goddess never ends…

Its nice to hear about the family helping out Zozz. It sure was/is a big job. Is the rest of the roof ok?

We will change the rest also but it has different angle so it needs a separate frame. We want to finish this section completely and then make the rest.

:+1: for the pics! That looks like a major job, and a nice house. No wonder the hobby had to be left alone for a while.

He didn’t like heights, so on his house I actually did have to put the sky beams in. I was the only one willing to go up that high to guide the core load-bearing parts into place. They originally planned to build a log cabin to retire in, but I guess things looked smaller on paper and it turned into more of a log mansion. First world problems.

In any case, good luck with the construction, Zozz. May your new roof be wasp-free.

Don’t know about y’all, but I think his family should work through the night and let Zozz furnish the lighting.

I received some 90 CRI Samsung LH351Ds from AEDe and decided to swap out the 219C in my Tiara for testing. Aside from feeling a little dirty about de-Nichiaing a light, it seems to be a success. With the same optic, the LH351D has a significantly higher output. This is partially due to the bezel not being pressed in, as well as the emitter dome sitting inside the optic aperture better. The output is even higher with a Yajiamei optic.

The LH351D is physically much more similar to an XP-L than a 219C is, which means it behaves a little better as a drop-in replacement, especially with TIR optics. For the most part the light quality subjectively seems similar, and I didn’t notice a huge amount of green shift at lower levels.

Decribed how a vacant C8 host was set-up to be a UV thrower , but left out the beamshot(s). Because White Walls Won’t Work With UV. Then I remembered that djozz showed us we can use the illumination of the UV light on white paper. Of course I did not have a large enough piece of white paper. But I had a piece of shelf paper that was white enough to do the trick.

On the left you see the hotspot of the C8 at 1.8m (6ft). On the right you see the result of the latest model UV Convoy S2+ at 1.8m.

@Bob, how is the light output compared to the stock XPL?

Would like to know.
