What did you mod today?

What did you do? That doesn’t even look real. If I zoom in a bit it looks better, but the texture at both ends seems like something which shouldn’t actually exist.

I’m not sure what you mean?

Just saying your work is so unreal it’s out of this world.

Don’t worry, it’s a good thing.

Is there a textured wall or coarse paper that is reflecting in the lens? This may be what she is seeing…

Oh this, yeah that’s a textured white mat, the only glowy thing I had to hand for a picture.
I can see how that would be confusing now

Not technically a mod but built my first S2 today:

Convoy S2
Nichia 219C
Smooth reflector
DrJones H17Fx Driver
Samsung 30Q 18650
Tail spring bypass

Happy to have this thing fire up on my first try. There’s a few small tweaks I still want to make but happy with my first day progress. I’ll save the pics since everyone here’s seen a S2 and my soldering skills are HORRENDOUS.

Sounds like a nice mod e1000. As for the soldering a hot iron and good flux makes a big difference.

Isn’t that too much current for 219c?

djozz test here on the 219C.

Yeah, due to the low Vf, there is a high potential for FET-based drivers to turn single 219c emitters into smoke when used with a high-amp cell. It might be a good idea to use a weaker cell there, or use thin wires to feed the emitters, as well as un-bypassing the spring(s).

An old NCR18650A would probably be safe, if you can find one.

Absolutely! HA! On full turbo (FET) the LED goes blue-ish. I have my modes set fairly safe, with the high being 2100mA and I avoid full on turbo.

Yup, that’s how it tells the world it’s on the verge of death.

Wait, What? You mean, the emitter isn’t SUPPOSED to gradually turn blue in the first 10 seconds on Turbo?

No, that means you are supposed to buy a triple Nichia 219C board instead.

I wanna learn to mod someday…

Yeah. You are real bad at modding.

How dare you run XPL2s at over 3x their rated current in your Sofirn C8F! Cree engineers must be raging at your incompetence!

I know, I’m bad about stuff like that. I’ll try to get better…

Another take on the DQG Slim Ti extension tube lights I've been liking so much lately :)

Samsung LH351D 4000K 90 CRI
KD DTP MCPCB
Sanded down reflector
FET 15mm driver with guppydrv3 firmware
Thermally controlled
Hand made copper pill & switch housing
Titanium body
14500/ 14250 cell compatible
Magnetic tail (19, 2mm x 2mm magnets)
Metal Switch
Reverse clicky
Max current 4A from Sanyo UR14500P
Around 924lm OTF14250 version

Added a lighted tail to an EagleEye X2R (with stock driver). First tried without bleeder resistor on the driver and 2x 4.7 kOhm on the tail board (the 6 tail leds are parallel with a common resistor before each set of 3), but that resulted in next mode memory (the driver interprets any length of ‘off’ as going to the next mode). Then I tried 2x 8.9 kOhm, and then 2x 22 kOhm. Still next mode memory. Then I added a 680 Ohm bleeder on the driver (between batt+ and ground) and all was well: last mode memory and a well lighted tail.

I wish I had your skills djozz :sunglasses:

CRX, I notice you’re not a big fan of pocket clips… ? Great job on the ext tubes :+1:
