@Kirman: “The MF02 is still by far my favorite light in my collection, but I don’t get why BG feel they needed to stretch the specs so far away from reality.”
Well of course you do, so does anyone here.
It’s called PR.
You boost the data to get more people interested, simple as that, everyone knows how it works.
Doesn’t matter, it’s all down to pricing, build quality. modability and actual throw-performance.
So let’s wait for the first understandable tests.
Sorry for distracting a bit from the MF04 but does anyone know how far from reality the specs of the MF02 are? I still feel tempted buying both the MF02 and the MF04 but if the difference between them becomes neglectible I would rather stick to the MF02 as it will be more handy in daily use than this “bell”.
It seems like the MF02 has recently started shipping with a more powerful driver. They seem to be putting out between 2.5A and 3A. With this higher amperage, I don’t think anyone has measured the candela. The earlier lights with less power did about 400kcd. They must be doing higher numbers now.
The MF02 is your best bang for the buck. The smaller reflector gives it a bigger hotspot and less throw distance, but that might be okay for your needs.
You would need to measure the emitter current. I don’t think Astrolux sells drivers. Freeme might know better than me if they are available. I still have not heard any official news of the change, just people measuring the latest lights and noticing its 2.5A to 3A.
Lexels drivers are better regardless. If I bought an MF02, I would use his driver in it.
