Astrolux "MF04" discussion thread

Thank you JasonWW! That’s good news indeed. :+1:

MF02 is a true budget thrower. Very practical for its size and weight in my opinion.

Of course I agree with you

If the interest is high enough I could make a NarsilM UI 2S Boost driver for the MF04

Is there a way to tell if I have the latest driver in my MF02? If I have the older driver, am I able to buy the new one so I can swap them out?

You would need to measure the emitter current. I don’t think Astrolux sells drivers. Freeme might know better than me if they are available. I still have not heard any official news of the change, just people measuring the latest lights and noticing its 2.5A to 3A.

Lexels drivers are better regardless. If I bought an MF02, I would use his driver in it.

I got a few MF02 drivers left after modding the light They look all the same from old and new lights
on one of the first lights sold I measure 2.4A

I put my own NarsilM drivers in the light running BLF GT UI at 2A ramping +2.5A Turbo

Maybe I’ll have to upgrade with one of your drivers for the MF02

*Note:
We have changed the range and peak beam Intensity of the flashlight, but it will not influence the using.Thank you.

Just the opposite, they first claimed 3,000 lumen and 1697 meters. When the light actually came out it was about 2A and 1400 meters and the drivers kept burning up. They eventually fixed reliability, but they were still well below the ratings. Banggood then changed the distance from 1697 to 1587 meters. They still say 3,000 lumen, though.

But then again the latest ones seem to have more current applied, correct? So, I would have also assumed they increased the MF02’s output with later production batches.

Yes, people reported this new higher current in the MF02 just a week or two ago.

I hope Astolux will sell a SS bezel for the MF04 as an option one day.

yea i dont get it, neither the blf has one or this? but the mf01 and 02 has? it should have had a steel bezel, would look more sexy imo.

One of the comments I keep getting on my MF02 is that it is such a great looking light. The well crafted ss bezel makes a huge difference appearance wise. Would be nice if someone could photoshop the mf02 bezel including the two laser etched rings onto the mf04 to see how it would look.

we can try...

Think of the weight. It’s a huge chunk of metal and it’s right at the big end. It would really throw off the weight distribution. Plus I’m sure it would raise the cost of the light quite a bit.

But JasonWW the light is already heavy i dont think a bezel would make much difference imo and i wouldnt call a 200$ cheap compared to MF01 or 02….
