6. Batch "TA" 1S or 2S Bistro HD OTSM/NarsilM drivers 15-47.5mm size fit, S2+, C8, H03, MF01, MT03, Q8 Clicky or E-switch

Something similar was my next idea to try tomorrow.

Hey Lexel, how are you doing?

I had a question about your boost driver. I think you said it can provide up to 6A with a 6v led like a xhp70.2. Does this mean it would be drawing 14 or 15 amps from a single 26650 battery?

The current setting is limited at 18.8A from 19(21A peak) the driver can sustain
another resistor value can reduce the current

Have you had any help with getting Narsil to work properly with the boost driver?

I’ve also heard a lot of good stuff about ToyKeepers Andúril. Have you tried using that on it?

I tested yesterday a rewired and reprogrammed 30mm NarsilM driver as expected

I think I can rewire v2 boards to use NarsilM and Bistro HD properly, just got only few v2 drivers made
10 17mm 1.2mm
10 20-22mm 1.6mm
and 10 Klarus XT11/12GT 1.2 and 10 1.6mm
made

Sounds like good news!

How expensive is the 9V 20A XHP70.2 MT09R buck driver?

I would love to have one for myself.

Or is it not available yet?

The GT/MT09R are not ready yet and just the parts bill is over 50$ on my side

47.5mm Q8 driver

Lexel customized one of these for me to use in a different light, however I just received a Q8 today and I’d like to know all of the advantages of using this driver vs the stock driver in a Q8.

1. You get NarsilM V1.2 or Anduril if you want him to flash it.

2. You get a much higher lumen regulated modes at a max of 2000 lumens.

What is not to like?

Also, you fund him so he can develop better buck and boost drivers with NarsilM we all need

Built a E2L host up into a triple with Samsung LH351D 4000K 90 CRI LEDs.

Getting ~3300lm @ turn on with FET+N+L Bistro HD OTSM driver from Lexel

Using his 6 LED switch board too with trimmers as pictured below. Allows me to balance the color just to my liking. Something is washing out the color a little in the picture below but it works well.

I thought the stock Q8 already has Narsil?

.

I need to understand this more, does this means the middle modes will have higher outputs? Or just better regulation? Or both?

Turbo mode will be the same output because both are DD on turbo, correct?

Beamo, the stock Q8 has NarsilM version 1.0. Lexel is using the newer v1.2 which has a few improvements. Mode steps and blinkies now “wrap around”, momentary turbo, he can program the top level of the ramp to stop early, etc…

I dont know if Lexel has embraced Andúril yet. It might require software tweaks since his driver is 3 channel and the stock driver is 2 channel.

As I said earlier, Lexels version is 3 channel with a lot of 7135 chips. The stock driver is 2 chanel with a single chip. So middle modes have better regulation.

Thanks Jason. So mainly its the better regulated middle modes, I assume it’s regulated WAY better, with sixteen 7135’s vs one.

And using the Q8 the first time tonight I see how ramping to 100% can be frustrating, several times I wasn’t sure if I was in turbo and when I double click to find out I get strobes :rage: (because I was already in turbo)

.
For the Q8 driver he custom built for me he said:

“The light follows GT v1.2 UI so ramping to about 80% double click gets to 100%, so you have 2 fixed levels you can navigate in ramping easily”

.
I assume he sets it to cap at 80% unless you specify otherwise. That will be so much better than the stock Q8 Narsil.

So it looks like on the Q8 driver he installs GT v1.2, so what is “GT” ? Is GT the same as NarsilM?

.

When he says GT ramping v1.2 he means ramp goes to 80% just like on the GT. GT is reference to the GT light.

NarsilM v1.2 is the name of the UI. He just says GT to describe the ramping limit he sets.

I have recently changed code even on the 100% ramp Narsil not to go into strobes when ramped to max., as I had a few people complaining about it
Of course thats never been an issue with 80% ramping tables I also programmed in my custom TA triple channel NarsilM
So far I made a 60 and 80% ramping table for Triple channel drivers

So my new lights are now this way
v1.2 0—->100% double click 100%, double click, Strobe
v1.2 0—->80% double click 100%, double click, Strobe

I also check on every driver the temperature offset and calibrate it,
same for LVP I make it to any voltage you like and check if its spot on or needs sometimes 0.1V offset as well

GT=GigaThrower was first light that brought v1.2 NarsilM stock

Thanks Jason and Lexel for the info and explanations, I think I’m really going to enjoy the GT NarsilM v1.2.

I’ll get a driver for my Q8 too if I keep it. I despise getting strobes by accident, it’s great you’ve got that issue resolved with this.

You can keep your Q8 stock and reflash it too. The bare minimum parts to do it are like $3-4

still v1.2 is the same on the turbo issue if you do not change some things
and ramping for TA builds stays 100% without custom files

You can also choose Anduril or just disable the strobes in 1.2
