Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

Beyond awesome, love it!

I love Nixie Tubes! I have a Nixie Tube Clock. I purchased this one back in 2003. Still works like a champ. The flickering isn’t visible to the naked eye.

Darn, I love that nixie wrist watch, too.
Must google if it’s real and how many wages it’s worth

Just found this automatic Seiko 5 in a drawer while looking for other stuff! This watch belonged to my father. Not used since nearly 10 years. Good as new. Happy I found it

Very cool find agent steel

Great watch and it was your Pop’s …. wear it in good health.

So yes.
Getting a proper watch - missio still in progress.

I admit I got a bit of a set back since I had to help out parents for about six grand early this year - that meant I had to “touch” watch savings also…

So what do you do?

Managed to find a similar one, quality has better feel and movement functions are much more civilized and snappy than the Seiko Alpinist I had.

I’m so glad you posted that AgentSteel……I have my Grandad’s watch which very similar to your Dad’s but until now it has sat in a box untouched, dirty, scratched face and laden with sweat (ew!).
Seeing yours gave me the nudge I needed to clean it up! I polished the acrylic crystal with a dremel and Autosolvol cream and the same with the strap etc after a good soak in hot water and a scrub with an old toothbrush and washing up liquid. The end result is an almost brand new watch!

Cool!

That’s a nice watch G0Ose, good job :+1:

Great job G0Ose ,very nice and special!

Thanks for your kind replies guys! :+1:

Did you take any “before” pics mate?

Have my U-boat U-51 watch on today.

U-Boat U-51 Chimera

wow, never seen anything like that… are you supposed to be left handed to use it?

No Paul, sorry I didn’t. The lens was pretty scratched though and I was surprised at how well it polished up tbh.
In the meantime I have just bought a new watch to pass down to my son………(hopefully not too soon lol)
I literally had to scour 1/2 of the UK to find one in stock, phoned loads of places before I got lucky, these are pretty rare now to find in stock, only local jewellers will have them.
The Black Series Ninja Turtle.

Oh, and being a non expert automatic watch owner I have been considering buying a watch winder.
Some recommend it, others don’t - mainly as new watches have better lubricants etc, and your are basically wearing the spring for no real reason other than to keep the correct date/ time (if not wearing daily).
Any thoughts on this guys?

I have 6 Seiko automatics and a 4 watch auto winder. I no longer use it due to the fear of causing undue wear. I usually stick to one watch for a couple of weeks before I rotate anyway. BTW, I’m not an expert either.

My 2 cents about watch winders:

If your watch has complications (moon phase, perpetual calendar, and similar), a winder is a very easy way to ensure those bits stay accurate. Otherwise I consider it a choice of convenience: if you don't like having to reset your watch each time you wear it, a winder is handy. Otherwise you may find that a winder is just another something to have to keep up with.

And in my experience, while some consider keping a watch on a winder to be the same as running your car while it sits in the garage at night :) modern-day watches aren't "excessively worn" by being on a winder. In fact, you could argue that the constant (or near-constant, depending on the winder) movement keeps the oils from pooling and moving away from where they need to be... but, with modern watches that's not an issue either :)

So, convenience it is! :)

Looking for a recommendation.

I’m in the market for a skeleton automatic with a metal bracelet for under $500. The only one I have found so far to my liking is the bulova classic but I would prefer something with a sapphire crystal but that may take things way out of my price range.

Any thoughts?
