That’s decent. But I recently read something about problem with D4 sub-lumen mode, couldn’t quite understand it, like either it didn’t exist or was hard to land on with ramping.
The D4 does not have a sublumen mode in stock form. A few more facts
the lowest low is 1.7 lumens
No true overdischarge protection
Not compatible with protected cells
No reversed battery polarity protection
Uses PWM above 150 lumens, and has no constant output regulation above that.
Im not a fan, but plenty of people are.
Just adding some information since I have the Astrolux MH10 with the 18350 tube — I think it’s one of the most throwy flashlight for its size (almost rivals the Astrolux S3/BLF X5). I got the “neutral-white” tint, but its tint is more on the warmer side (maybe 4500K) — the tint is very similar to the Convoy S2+ XP-L Hi U6-4C and the Astrolux S1 ‘5A’ warm-white (not similar to the S1 ‘3D’ 5000K neutral-white).
Real flat-top 18350 cells won’t make contact with the positive nipple (eg. PKCell ICR/IMR18350 — need a magnet spacer and it will work).
Using KeepPower UH1835 (unprotected 18350 1200mAh), it works properly (UH1835 is a slightly-raised flat-top).
The KeepPower P1835C2 (protected 18350 1200mAh) will NOT fit the 18350 tube at all, tried inserting from both ends, won’t fit.
It appears that Neal’s SS35-1 is available on BG as Dito XG1.
There’s aluminum Dito XL1 but the BG site utterly fails to style own shop on that site, putting all the actual content off-screen. So I don’t even know the dimensions.
Quite slim for an 18350 light (22.5mm wide at head. 82mm long)
Excellent output: 1770 out-the-front (note the manufacturer claims around 2400 lumens, but it’s explained somewhere in the instructions that those are emitter lumens not OTF).
Switch is small and stiff enough that lockout is not needed for regular pocket EDC. Chance of accidental activation is very low.
Biggest downsides of the DX3B:
USB cover can pop out in the pocket. It’s easy to put back into place though.
Not sure about the battery voltage indicator. It still gives 4 flashes even with the cell down to about 3.5 v
I wish someone would sell a shorty tube for DQG Tiny 4th - this would make for a really small 18350 light since the 18650 version is only 87mm long. The 18350 version would be 57mm long.
