Got your drivers today.

Thanks  :face_with_monocle:

Regarding Luxeon MZ 5700K 90CRI (equivalent to 9080 Nichia CRI rating) interest, I got some more info from one supplier, the only problem is looong lead time of 13weeks. If lead time is 5-6weeks, I would buy one reel, but ~3months of waiting sounds too long for me. When I asked why lead time is so long, they said Lumileds actually runs production "on-demand", one good thing might be "fresh out of the oven" LEDs with higher that typical flux bin as result, we are in 2018, last datasheet update for MZ is form November 2015(!).

Planned "group buy" price was 5,97€ per piece (that's Mouser's price for 50+ pcs when you add typ. EU VAT of 20%). Regular price will be ~7,50€.

Is there still an interest in this LED with lead time of (up to ) 13 weeks?

In the meantime, I will have 32mm PCBs compatible with 3x and 4x CUTE optics for Eagle Eye X6 in 3535 and 4040 footprint.

Yes, I am interested in 3-4 plus PCB.

Yep,still interested.Busy summer starting,13 weeks is fine by me.

Interested in the MZ 90CRI for Q8 Board.

I would be interested in several Luxeon MZ 500K 90CRI and looking forward to the 32mm PCBs.

Luxeon MZ 500K ? Did he mean 5000K?

I went back but couldn’t find the original post on it.

Corrected, it's 5700K 90CRI 3V variant, tested by koef3 and maukka (measured CRI Ra=95, and R9=89).

Thanks for correcting.

Compared to Luxeon V 4000K you get higher CRI with the MZ, but you give up considerable output and have to deal with the donut hole, (plus at 5700K it’s more CW than NW)

Is that correct or am I missing something?

(Both are 3v and 4040 footprint)

Yes. You get a “snow white” tint. That’s rare. Also, the Vf is super low.

  • MZ has high CRI and it's cool white (which is quite rare combination),
  • Also Vf is lower - good for long lasting and steady/regulated high mode when used with linear drivers,
  • Max "BLF" current ~15-16 Amps and over 2500lm - currently no other 3V LED can do 2000lm+ with 90+CRI
  • Undomed - same effective LES as 4mm^2 LEDs, which means decent throw even with OP reflectors/frosted optics

Only disadvantage is quad die gap, but because emitter is undomed donut hole can be neutralized easier with OP reflectors/frosted optics compared to some domed multi-die LEDs.

Got my Q8 MCPCB today, very nice quality.

Thank you for making it avaible :+1:

received a LD-A4 driver. I’ve mounted it in a Convoy M2 with a XM-L2 U2 3C, AWG 18 wires and springs bypassed.

Set at 6A CC current and mode spacing is perfect
I’ve measured 0.7/30/164/390/693/1330 modes with a VTC6 cell

Thanks for bringing us your products. I hope I receive soon the MCPCB for the Q8

Interested in 6 MZ 90CRI.

led4power, do you intend to carry Luxeon MX too?

MX is 4x2mm2 die in 7070 size, so not really practical for flashlights; 5050 package like XHP50.2 would be much better, it would be much more interesting because of better tint and 3V drive.

There are many lights that come stock with 7070 LED or get modded with one, so I don’t agree it’s not really practical. Nevertheless I agree that it would be better with a smaller package. But it is what it is. And it is the most powerful 3V LED under $100.
Not a great choice for throwers, but a good flooder LED.

Luxeon MX is basically XP-50(2) in XHP-70(2) package, max. lumens would be ~4000lm when overdriven, most people would find this to low, when they can get 2 times more from XHP-70(2).

Do somebody knows a flashlight host, which is suitable for MOSLED 4XP quad d=20mm , LD-B4 and any of the compatible circular edge Carclo optics together?

I am thinking about to build a flashlight with these components, as they seem to be very tempting, but I would need some additional preparation and help. Thank you in advance for any helpful input

I built a Convoy M2 quad with those parts and kiriba-ru’s spacer. I like it a lot. Also added one of the lighted switches.
