Review: Sofirn SF32

Where do I start. I purchased this light off AliExpress back in March. Finally got here today after having to have the package resent. Of course only one of the two lights I ordered actually showed up. So basically this is just a basic XM L2 6500k 500lumen light in a S2+ sort of style. I was looking forward to it.

The fit and finish are good. Nice feel. Nice looking light. I was happy so far. It has a fairly deep and polished reflector so I figured I would take it apart and see about putting an OP reflector in it. Much to my dismay I found out the reflector is permanently attached to the pill. Thought maybe I could throw a S2+ pill and reflector in it but no, threads don’t match up.

Well no big deal. For a light this cheap and simple I would survive. The UI is from the devil. Starts in HI then Mid, Low, Strobe, SOS. That’s it. Can’t change it, can’t hide the blinky’s. Your just stuck with it. Now I see why there was no need for a instruction manual. Still for a cheap light. I could live with it as a light to poke around on the back deck at night and not worry about it getting lost or taken home by someone else or getting destroyed by rain or what not. So now I took her into a rather dark room to see what kind of light output and beam it had.

Brace yourself folks. Really, I mean sit down and have oxygen ready. It’s that bad. Sofirn? What are you doing to me. I talk you up and recommend your products. They are well built and extremely affordable. I search sites everyday and share any deals I find on your lights. This is what you send to people now days? Okay, this is what the beam looks like.

I thought I was on a hidden camera show or something. I was speechless. I took the battery out, which to me by now is worth more than the light. Put it back in the box and contemplated who in this world do I dislike the most. I was going to send it to them. But no, I can’t do that. That is way too much punishment.

I don’t know. I am now hoping the other light doesn’t show up. Might be a cheap price to pay to get rid of having to look at the other light as well. This light literally makes me wish I didn’t have eyes.

That was one of the earliest Sofirn lights, based on the cheap SK68 driver and cheap body.

I would not blame it on Sofirn though. These are crap, and probably not the same OEM as they currently use.

The SP31 is the real deal, and not the SF32. Once I saw that H-M-L mode, I knew something was up.

TLDR: You should have bought the SP31 instead. Much higher quality host and beam.

The SF31 is the light that didn’t get sent. Ordered them at the same time. With that one I was expecting a VG15S type light. I would be super happy with that.

Ahh. I get it. For the SF32, as I stated, they used a bargain bin OEM compared to the one Thorfire and Sofirn use.

I bought this flashlight when Sofirn was an unknown brand. This reflector is a failure. In my light I changed the led to xpl hi and the reflector to OP convoy s2 / s6.
Xpl hi with stock and OP reflector. Rings like on Saturn.
