I could imagine they might also want to implement SSL encryption along with any changes that occur due to the DSGVO. However, the website is still down and most probably some of TLFās heavy users may already get withdrawal symptoms.
Yes!
Also, my pics here are gone.
Well, lets just pray TLF will come back to life.
Concerning DSGVO a.k.a GDPR:
Here is an excerpt of what has happened to German media/websites due to the new DSGVO. Itās a total disaster and some websites have been completely shut down in order to avoid charges for noncompliance. :person_facepalming:
Some US newspaper websites have locked out European IP addresses in order to avoid charges. Yeelight lamps cannot be controlled with their app anymore. The list of absurdities becomes endlessā¦
There was a LOT of time to check the new DSGVO laws before they came into force and change the sites to comply with these. It seems a little strange if webmasters taken suddenly down their sites to make these as fast as possible DSGVO compatible. If you follow the existing privacy laws you should have no problems with the DSGVO anyway.
@The_Driver: Especially for this reason I hosted my pics for this and other forums on an external picture hoster. Also I have my pictures saved on my computer to re-upload the pics to another hoster if abload.de has to close eventually.
Monday evening and still down.

Hmh maybe
IĀ“m a little bit insecure
When trying to open the Messer Forum another German Forum handling with flashlights
the site is also down in connection with a message in reference to DSGVO
I was just able to open the link to the āGerman Knife Forumā you mentioned before. However, the TLF website is still down and I begin to wish there was somekind of an āofficialā interim statement from one of the TLF adminstrators here. At least a short statement about the expected minimum downtime would have been helpful to get a feeling of the actual extent of work to do. As far as I recognized things, the TLF website has been taken offline on Friday morning last week.

That was also my thoughts
Iām quite sure a number of members of the TLF are Reading here
And a Few words of one of the Moderators here would be nice
As far as I can See this is the only Place to get some Information
Was there any information to the users before the TLF was shut down?
If so, what was in it?
Yes, there was a note at the top of the page:
Attention, shortly there will be maintanance of the forum
Shortly we will be doing extensive adjustments and maintenance of the forum. If necessary you will need to do without the forum for some time. I promise to hurry, but you got to do what you got to do.
Please donāt panic, even when only an empty page appears. No data will be lost. Thank you for your understanding.
I didnāt expect such a long down time, now we know how addicted feels like. I hope they will restart soon. Itās good to have no āmust haveā feeling for some days, if no one show new flashlights.
Regards Ulrich
Well, it might be a good thing for BLF, more visitors and new members :)
New members most likely. Like meā¦ Same nickname here, btw.
Fenix UC01, TK35UE (2015), HL60R, Sofirn SF36W and a 3D Mag from the 1980ies. Oh, and a Consol Solar Jar (aka Sonnenglas) from South Africa. I also legally own a WEMAS Future (my avatar; bought new from a local construction equipment dealer).

I think I can see the German authorities act a bit OCD on the new rules. From a Dutch point of view, anyway. But better OCD than not at all. In the Netherlands the failed major of the city of Utrecht was appointed to head the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. His resume could be read like āthe wrong man in the wrong placeā. His board of directors is almost completely vacant. Because being a professionel politician, he knows little to nothing about pricavy, but everthing about how to prevent people from sawing the legs from under his chair.
The new rules were already known for months, but only on THE day itself it was made public that the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens did not have the means, the people, or the knowledge to execute the new privacy rules. :person_facepalming:
I hope TLF will be on line again very soon.

OCD = Obsessiveācompulsive disorder? Donāt worry Henk4U2ā¦verschillende landen, dezelfde stront Your story could have also happened over hereā¦where mismanagement and corrupt politicians are part on the daily agenda. Just have a look at this huge POS called āBERā a.k.a. Berlin-Brandenburg Intāl Airport. Ever since they started this project in 2006 there were more mistakes than anyone could count up to. Until today this airport is more likely an unfinished ruin with billions of Euros dumped in some big shotās pockets without any charges or consequences and thereās no end to be seen. So, itās no surprise that the DSGVO is just another new law they invented to sue ordinary people while those big shots and lawyers rub their hands and couldnāt care less about data privacy. :person_facepalming:
What good is the DSGVO if our chancellor literally says āData are raw materials of the 21st centuryā and āHere we must now be careful that data protection does not gain the upper hand over economic processing.ā?

Well I hope the TLF is going back online soon. I have some PA lights here. I canāt return them to the owner or the next member without the TLF because I donāt have the address outside the forum.

Maybe āamarettoā knows the right addresses? Heās the one who usually organises the passarounds.
The work on the DSGVO is more extensive than intended. Frank is working on solutions but unfortunately it will still take some time.
Sorry, we canāt give you an exact date.
Thanks to the BLF admin for the opportunity to post here. :+1:
Many greetings from your TLF team.

Thank you very much for this interim status, Bluzie! I guess we all understand the constraints of DSGVO that website admins now have to deal with. IMHO most important to know is that these changes are still work in progress and that we donāt have to have serious concerns about the future of our forum. Iāll keep my fingers crossed that viable solutions will soon be found and TLF can come back to life.
What I donāt really understand is, that german privacy law was already very tight before DSGVO.
What I do understand is, that existing users must be made to positively acknowledge the new privacy terms (āDatenschutzerklƤrungā).
In the past, many websites just declared āWe have changed our privacy policy. By continuing to use our website, you agree with the new terms.ā My personal opinion is, that this is not possible for the transition to the DSGVO.
So now it must be something like āWe have changed our privacy policy. To continue using our website, you have to read, understand and agree to the new terms. After logging in, you must read the the new privacy policy. After reading, you can choose to either agree and continue using our website or to cancel your account/registration/membership/whatever.ā
This is my personal opinion. I am not a lawyer. (Dies ist meine persƶnliche Meinung. Ich bin kein Anwalt.)
