Convoy C8+ New look for an old favorite

Mine, too (U4-7A) even though it was OOS yesterday when I ordered it. Sometimes miracles happen.

My C8+ host finished.
shaved and polished SST40 led, TA OTSM driver, yellow lighted tailcap switch.
It draws 9.3A
Output: 2037 lumens
Intensity: 125525 cd
Throw:702m
I got nice hot spot without tint shift and smooth beam.

The grey gate is about 40m and the trees behind about 100m distance from me.

Nice ! :+1:

I found a SS Bezel in my Toybox.
It looks very nice on the C8+

Nice work Zozz! Looks really good, that beam profile is what I like to see. Guess I know what I’ll be doing if/when I get one of these…

@ZozzV6

Runs the lighted tailcap switch with the stock driver to?

Where i can get a red or yellow TS?
On Ali i only found the blue one.

Very nice indeed Zozz, everything done well and very complete too with the yellow tailcap.

Speaking of that lighted tail cap, I just built an FET for an X6 that is straightforward, old style, no 7135 chip… this particular X6 already had a single LED in the tail cap and it works… how does it work if I didn’t put a bleeder resistor on the driver?

I build them myself with Oshpark PCB-s designed by Pilotdog68.
You can find more info about them here.
I needed to use bleeder resistor on driver. But I bought this flashlight as an empty host so the internals are not stock. you can not buy a C8+ with this driver and led in stock form.

Nice! Thanks for posting the photo with an SS bezel.

Is that the desert tan S2+ with 18350? If so is the color an exact match with the C8+? (it appears to be)

Love the colour, the C8+ needs GITD somewhere though!

if anyone got the c8+ and chose the 3000k tint pls post some beam shots

Yes, thats an S2+ with 18350 Tube.
The colors matching not exactly, but i think 99,5%. Thats tolerance of the anodisation process.

Okay my c8+ arrived today, the 3000k tint is awesome my new fav color in the c8. The grip on the new model is alot better too, this will not easy fall out of your hands which is very good i didnt expect that… some crappy pics here compared to the c8 clear in cool white xpl…

I just received my tan C8+.
Nice change for this classic, although “too many fins” would come to mind.
The SS bezel on it looks great too.

One thing i’d like Simon to think about is BETTER PACKAGING!
I would be willing to pay extra for some decent packaging i would not be ashamed to gift out.

Packaging is extra cost. Extra cost that in the majority of the cases is thrown away. Do we want inexpensive lights that work well or well dressed lights that cost a lot? Lines have to be drawn somewhere. Convoy is a small company, offering an excellent product at a great price. Pretty sure we all want him to keep it that way.

I got my first C8+ day before yesterday (Thanks JDub, for making that happen! ) , added some chips (5) and it’s still just not a nice color for me. (3000K is it? What’s that, 4C?) That’s gotta go….

Hmm, I noticed when I ordered from GB, any Convoy lights came in the usual nondescript beat-up white thin-cardboard boxes. But when I ordered hosts and maybe some complete lights from FT, they all came in nice gift-boxes.

If anyone has a Zanflare F1, that kind of box for S2+ hosts. Glossy thick cardboard, nice print/logo on it, the worx.

Naw, 4C is about 4300K-4500K. Quite nice, but downright beautiful through a TIR lens.

3000K is in the 7s.

But reflectors invariably give fried-egg beams, so the hotspot (yolk) will look lots yellower, and the spill (white) will look lots bluer.

TIRs scramble that egg quite nicely.

I think he’s got a point regarding the C8. The S2+ comes in a nice package with sturdy cardboard and Styrofoam cutouts, which has the added bonus of looking classy if you are giving it as a gift. But the C8 comes in a flimsy box and a thin layer of bubble wrap. Mine arrived ok, but considering how beat up some of my other international packages have been, I would pay an extra couple bucks for the peace of mind that it’ll get here in one piece.
