[PART 2] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Closed, but Public sales open!

I only have my phone to take pictures which definitely won’t work for long range beamshots. Short range won’t show anything meaningful probably. I can perhaps borrow a camera that has optical zoom. I do have a lot of places to test all over. There is a large white tower in town that I have used as a target. From 1500 meters my TK75 shouldn’t reach it (1150m of throw) but it does… The BLF GT also reaches it but it’s a hair brighter. And I do mean a hair. I also tested in a nature reserve nearby where I stood on a hill trying to see trees in the distance. The trees here are spread out on large fields at different distances which makes it easy to compare lights. When I used the BLF GT it would very faintly show the silloute of a treeline directly behind a treeline I was able to see with the TK75. To me that seems off.

The only way to know for sure is to actually measure both lights with a lux meter (from maybe 20 meters) and then you can calculate what each lights actual ANSI-FL1 rated distance is.

If your into this kind of stuff, you can get a lux meter as little as $15 to $30.

Also remember that the rated distances are measured down to a quarter of a lux, which is very faint and not very practical.

I think 2 people had defective leds which only had 3 of the 4 dies working. Make sure to verify you emitter is okay.

I thought about getting a lux meter, guess I’ll do it since I’m definitely into this kind of stuff haha. I know they are cheap, just a shame about the shipping.

I know the distances are not something to go by in terms of useful light. However, relative to eachother the GT should still have roughly double the range, as it has a cd rating that is almost four times as high as the TK75.

Correct me if I’m wrong:
TK75: 340.000cd
340.000/0,25 = 1.360.000
√1.360.000 = 1166 meters of throw

BLF GT: 1.000.000-1.300.000cd
1.000.000/0,25 = 4.000.000
√4.000.000 = 2000 meters

1.300.000/0,25 = 5.200.000
√5.200.000 = 2280 meters

Maybe if anyone from the Netherlands (in the east) feels like it I could compare with another GT, but for now I guess I will get a lux meter and share my findings later.

I’m still looking forward to the release of the XHP70 light engine/kit. Will definitely get that one when it’s available.

Thank you for your replies Jason, you’ve been a big help for everyone here.

so I got a 40 dollar refund from my order, and never received my bags, straps or caps? and I can’t figure out who to talk to about it….help?

How many bags, how many straps, how many caps??

Did that total $40??

Details my friend… details. .

Hello and salutations snarky cool guy!

What more is needed? I got a refund in a random amount, I have no what was cancelled or why, the amount does not equal any particular item or set of items, and I never received the specific items mentioned.

Sincerely,

Stupid ass uncool guy.

Snarky cool guy at least hooked me with Neal’s contact info, so I just PM’d him about it.

On a side note, the lights are bad. ass……but boy would that strap come in handy!

:sunglasses: … … :+1:

Was it 40.50 by chance? Neal said he was refunding my battery order, but I haven’t got it yet.

I have a lux meter and a GT and from the (south) east. So maybe i can help.

I think you’ve found the person you’re looking for. JasonWW is the main public contact for the BLF GT project lately, doing most of the public support and trying to get issues resolved. If his message sounded strange for a forum member, it’s probably because he’s involved in the project and trying to help.

It was in fact 40.50 Is that one set of batteries after TT&L?

Not even a BLF-GT could bridge the long dark stretch between “strange” and rude you’re selling.

I must have missed something… maybe a deleted post? Whatever it was, it doesn’t appear to be here any more.

In any case, it sounds like JasonWW and/or Neal are probably trying to resolve things in private. Hopefully they can figure out what happened with your order.

To answer your question… Yes, $40.50 would be the exact amount refunded for 1 set of 8 batteries.

Did you order batteries & not receive them??

Bags, straps, & caps are shipped separately by snail mail…… 2 - 4 or more weeks depending on your location in the world.

If the refund was $40.50 then that is most likely a refund for the cells, some places can not have the cells shipped so they were forced to send refunds.

You can contact “Neal” on here for more details, he is the one that sent the refund and will know why it was sent.

Yep, for 1 set of 8. I ordered them on the last day of the gb. Neal said the batteries could no longer be mailed alone and it would have to be refunded. He said he would refund it a couple days ago when he went to LT. May be sent the refund to you by mistake.

He said this to you, who lives in USA?
My first thought was batteries too, but I’ve never heard of shipping restrictions from Lumintop to the USA. This seems quite odd.

Yes, that’s what he said. The order was for an extra set that I placed on the 20th. I didn’t see anything that said an extra set couldn’t be ordered. When I asked him about the order, that’s when he said I would have to be refunded because they couldn’t be sent alone.

I see that Alamo was #1079 and #1080. The cutoff for paying was May 3rd, so he should have received his lights a long time ago.

If he had ordered batteries at that time they should have been shipped in the lights.

My guess is he ordered the batteries (as well as bags and straps) at a later point in time (unknown date). The bag and straps are probably still traveling to him, but the batteries had to be refunded.

Hopefully Neal will give him an answer soon and explain things. Lumintop and Neal don’t work weekends, but their Monday starts sooner than ours in the USA.
