Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

Did you take any “before” pics mate?

Have my U-boat U-51 watch on today.

U-Boat U-51 Chimera

wow, never seen anything like that… are you supposed to be left handed to use it?

No Paul, sorry I didn’t. The lens was pretty scratched though and I was surprised at how well it polished up tbh.
In the meantime I have just bought a new watch to pass down to my son………(hopefully not too soon lol)
I literally had to scour 1/2 of the UK to find one in stock, phoned loads of places before I got lucky, these are pretty rare now to find in stock, only local jewellers will have them.

Oh, and being a non expert automatic watch owner I have been considering buying a watch winder.
Some recommend it, others don’t - mainly as new watches have better lubricants etc, and your are basically wearing the spring for no real reason other than to keep the correct date/ time (if not wearing daily).
Any thoughts on this guys?

I have 6 Seiko automatics and a 4 watch auto winder. I no longer use it due to the fear of causing undue wear. I usually stick to one watch for a couple of weeks before I rotate anyway. BTW, I’m not an expert either.

My 2 cents about watch winders:

If your watch has complications (moon phase, perpetual calendar, and similar), a winder is a very easy way to ensure those bits stay accurate. Otherwise I consider it a choice of convenience: if you don't like having to reset your watch each time you wear it, a winder is handy. Otherwise you may find that a winder is just another something to have to keep up with.

And in my experience, while some consider keping a watch on a winder to be the same as running your car while it sits in the garage at night :) modern-day watches aren't "excessively worn" by being on a winder. In fact, you could argue that the constant (or near-constant, depending on the winder) movement keeps the oils from pooling and moving away from where they need to be... but, with modern watches that's not an issue either :)

So, convenience it is! :)

Looking for a recommendation.

I’m in the market for a skeleton automatic with a metal bracelet for under $500. The only one I have found so far to my liking is the bulova classic but I would prefer something with a sapphire crystal but that may take things way out of my price range.

Any thoughts?

I got this and it’s great:

That’s pretty nice. The name kills me though. I know everybody is making it in China now but I can’t do an all China watch. I’m not sure if you still can but a few years back you could get a Chinese tourbillion for a little under $500.

Pretty sure all the chinese “tourbillons” are just flywheels or balance wheels.
Good quality stuff can come from china if it’s not a crap replica or other low quality manufactured device.
I head the movement was pretty good for the price, I waited to get mine on sale for less than $400.

Ven, the funny thing is all of a sudden my clock has been getting a signal reliably for the past couple of weeks. I’ve owned this clock for about a year now and it almost never connected. It doesn’t make sense. I’m not complaining!

Good stuff, it must be picking up on posts on BLF to

The power of BLF made it right for me…lol!

LUM-TEC Custom M25 Tungsten with M42 dial and hands:

I just wanted a nice (but inexpensive) military-style watch, so…

here is a brand new Vostok Komandirskie (model ref.411744)

My first ever mechanical watch (date isn’t set up yet).

Replaced the cheap leather strap with a 18mm Nato.

Nice! I was about to buy a classic Komandirskie many times but I ended up with an Amphibia every time.

Vintage HMT for me:

The last couple of posts were awesome. Nice watches guys!
