BLF GT official support thread [FAQ updated 11 Jan 2018]

I have not replaced a driver in a flashlight before, but I have quite good soldering skills, so I can’t see any problems (except for the short wires) doing it.

Now that I think about the pictures Neal posted a long time ago, the drivers already come with the switch soldered in place. Once you loosen the switch retaining ring, there are notches that allow the switch to slip through the hole quite easily.

So it’s really just the two emitter wires that need to be soldered.

Thanks!

It should not be any problems soldering it like this

Edit: Fixed the URL for the picture.

Yeah. Let’s see what TA or Neal says.

I am guessing a new driver is the best option for you, there is a small possibility that the LED could be the issue but it is small.

Do you have a bench power supply by chance?

is it possible to buy a glass lens for my GT? mine is damaged

No bench power supply, but I have a lot of other power supplies. What voltage and amps do I need to test the led?

It was not the last I checked as it is very hard to ship them without them breaking. If you are in the US, there is a place that makes custom sized lenses for a reasonable price. I forgot the name though. Maybe someone else knows?

Not ideal but you could try a 12V power supply, amps should not really matter for the second you will actually use it. Just be careful to get the polarity right, it will kill the LEd if you get it backwards.

I would just manually put voltage to the LED / LED wires to ensure that the LED is not the problem. There is a small chance it could of died, I have seen them act kind of like this but it is very rare.

I’m in Spain. EU

Well protected inside a hard box, it should arrive in good condition…

You can contact Neal about it, he should be able get you a replacement since yours is damaged. I have tried to get them to offer the lenses for sale to the public but they said shipping was too hard for that.

For the glass you might want to try

But it may be expensive to ship to Spain.

What is the size of the GT lens?

By the way, I noticed that in the specs post at the beginning of this thread there is no specified diameter for the GT lens, can someone update that information please?

Thanks!

I found this glass that might fit the GT (Not sure about the size)

I plan to eventually replace the glass lens for a polycarbonate lens (cut out a round from a sheet from the DIY shop). Close to the same light transmission (when it is new at least  ) and no need to be careful with the GT after that

To team giggles: interested in buying the giggles flashlight...! The BFL - GT

I got my GT awhile back but havent used it much since its 24/7 light out in Alaska nowadays. Anyways theres a blemish on the reflector. Is there any way to get it fixed?

Is it just a small bump? It should not effect the performance of the light so I would not worry about it personally.

If you really want a replacement they should be offering a limited time option to buy a spare reflector from the GT70 group buy

Although it is not clear if the reflectors will only be available with the purchase of a GT70 or not.

No need to worry… I just got my blf gt cw… I found two tiny ding on the reflector… it’s not a big deal and doesn’t effect the beam quality…

I don’t like the new lumintop box… so fragile…
