[PART 2] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Closed, but Public sales open!

Good video Jason! :+1:

Excellent info & pics AlexGT!! I remember when you first posted this. Your pics convinced me to clean all of mine before heating them up real good. None of mine were as bad as yours appeared to beā€¦ but better safe than sorry.
Thank you!!! :+1: .

Are you saying the mcpcb can heat up enough to liquify the hardened flux residue?

Jasonā€¦. Look closely at AlexGTā€™s pictures. Look at all the liquid crap that was under & on the bottom of his black spacer. Look at what is on his fingertips also.
I am pretty sure that mainly is what he is referring to.

He said I need to clean my light, but I never had excess flux under my centering ring. Nor is there any visable in my video. So Iā€™m just confused why he would tell me that.

What I meant is that I think the dry solder flux might liquefy by heat if you use the light on turbo for longer periods of time creating a smoke hazard for the reflector, I cleaned mine up using alcohol, not hard to doā€¦

:+1: ā€¦ā€¦ OK, my bad; I misunderstood.

Now I understand. I have never heard of this before. I thought once it dried and hardened/crystallized that it was no longer capable of becoming liquid again. I can remove it, no problem.

Lumintop has now officially listed the GT for sale on their website at a discounted price to move left over stock. I have no idea what will happen to the price or stock once the sell the quota they need.

I do know that they have said that once the get the space and funds they will consider the XHP70.2 mcpcbā€™s and drivers I have been trying to get them to make for over a year. Possibly even a whole light (although they said the price will be higher for an xhp70.2 version and they are worried about how many people will buy it, so it is not confirmed at this point).

There are some other interesting things in the works at lumintop I am helping with as well that might be coming out in the next few months.

I am not making the mistake we did with the GT and announcing them before they are ready this time though.

The listed price is $3.00 each?

I want to buy 5 at $3 a pieceā€¦

Canā€™t add them to my cartā€¦ Helpā€¦!!!

Only 5? I would buy 100 of them in a second if they were $3 lol.

It looks like they copied the setup from Martins page and for some reason it defaults to the shoulder strap price. Simply click the GT or other option you want and you can see the other prices.

They have also started offering a Cool White LED option for those that want more of the light saber effect.

It would be nice if they offered the CW emitter and mcpcb for sale. Iā€™d like to be able to easily swap them back and forth for comparison.

Did they mention the color temp? 6500K?

I mentioned that they should offer it by itself along with most of the other parts to the GT but nothing ever seems to come of it.

No word on exact tint, if I had to guess it is a normal 1A / 6500k though.

Yepā€¦ that would be real nice for sure. :+1:

Heckā€¦ I donā€™t even care if it is 6500K, just something that is truly white would please me.

Iā€™d be happy with 5500K - 6000Kā€¦. Iā€™m not picky. Even 5000K would ā€˜IMOā€™ be an improvement in my book.

BUTā€¦. I SAY ā€œBUTā€ā€¦. That is nothing more than a ā€˜personal opinion & preferenceā€™ā€¦. just like anyone else has one.

IF they would sell itā€¦. I will buy it!! . :+1: Regardlessā€¦ if it is 5000K or above.

EDIT: Good info above TA, maybe LT will somehow get inspired & act on your suggestions. We can only hopeā€¦ā€¦.

Has there been any more developments with an XHP70.2 retrofit ā€œkitā€ for the GT?

Not really at this point. Lumintop wants to empty (or mostly empty) the warehouse of the GTā€™s they have in stock before they do anything new for the GT. They are just now breaking even / turning a profit so they are understandably hesitant to start any new projects right now.

I am pretty sure it will happen but weather it is 2 months or 9 months I canā€™t say.

worst case we can make our own but it would suck for everyone to do that and then lumintop to release the same thing a month later.

In other news I talked lumintop into selling me another prototype xhp70.2 mcpcb and will be building another XHP70.2 GT (possibly 2 if they let me buy 2, due to the very low production run for these they are very expensive, why they didnā€™t just do a full batch I do not understand).

I plan to list it on ebay auction once it is ready but if anyone on BLF is interested, let me know. I would prefer it go to a fellow BLFā€™er.

Let me know when you get I will buy it.

I thought the 32mm diameter 6v mcpcb were easily available, you just have to cut some traces and add a jumper wire to make it 12v. Itā€™s a fair bit smaller than the 45mm stock unit, though. Maybe some spacers can be used to raise the screws higher to prevent the black centering ring from rotating. Even though the actual mcpcb could still rotate, my guess is it will not.

Yes, that can be done but it pushes the mod into the advanced mod category. I have built a few like this and all of them was a royal pain to get the LED reflowed without it shorting out. Plus the smaller mcpcb is going to be hard to mount but not impossible.

It is indeed an option for the modders among us with the skills but it is one of those things that if someone has to ask how to do it, then they should not be doing it. Which is why I donā€™t bring it up much.

Iā€™d love to mod my GT to a 9k lumen 70.2 if it was easy.
