*** NEW *** Haikelite SC26 XHP35 26650/26350 aka Fatty ***Update*** 2018-07-24

Just thinking out loud…

If HL is having issues with the lights, rather than sell underperforming lights and pretty much pissing off a lot of people, why not just sell them as hosts? Even throw in the LED+mcpcb and let people stick in their own drivers?

I’m thinking that the market is just too small. Furthermore, if you look at Convoy for example who do offer hosts, then the emitter/driver combo is fairly standard, i.e. 3V emitter single/double cell. There are plenty of drivers to choose from.
Haikelites have a led/driver combo where there is not much choice when it comes to driver selection, so that will further reduce interest I think…

Regular price, but it’s not the advertised size, so you gotta get someone else to sew additional pieces onto it for you.

(Yeah, I’m goin’ to Hell…)

Sofirn is better set up for selling hosts and answering emails. I wonder if they are watching Haikelite flounder and see an opportunity?

Wellp, I asked Tracey if they’d be interested in doing up the HS-802, maybe putting their stank on it, because existing ’802s aren’t that great as far as finish, etc. Eg, they seem to be painted vs anodised. Wellp, it doesn’t seem to be on their radar yet.

Would be nice if they could do something for the SC26. I hate hate hate having to get “specialty” cell sizes, but this’d be an interesting little critter, that’s why I’m keeping an eye on it.

h,m yes the mt09r is never gonna sell on those sites with the problems etc i can understand, if this one will not either then im not gonna bother with it either. If the light will perform well and good price with codes or not it should sell well if they even decide they wanna sell on those sites otherwise i dont see the point they make this light.

Reaaaaally digging the 26350 format! And it’s coming soon too! :sunglasses:

I’m ready for it!

Is the new German dealer shipping the light themselves? Or just handling orders and the lights are shipping from China? Either way, I’m excited to finally get a few of them.

Will there be a test/review before the groupbuy starts?

I’m in for one.

Please add me to the list

I’ve just asked the manufacturer to sell it as early as next week. I am looking forward to a product, if it is on sale, I will buy it in China.

At this moment there is no relation between the group buy that Dale mentioned and the German distributor who is expecting the SC26 to arrive in the third week of June.
The news regarding the German dealer means that the lights are ready and we should be seeing them soon too.

I don’t know. But it looks like we might see some videos and tests first as the lights seem to arrive Germany first.

There is nothing official about the group buy, and I’m just a BLF member like you. I’m not involved in this. :sunglasses:

Can’t wait to see a review. I wonder how it will perform with the XHP35HI. Thrunite was able to push the 35 HI to 1900 otf lumens on the CW in the Catapult V6.

Hope it ain’t a dumb question, but what’s the advantage of a 26350 vs high-current 18350? In a small/short package, it can’t really maintain a high output for too long without cooking the light and/or your hand, no?

Lotta people p&m when “turbo” can’t be maintained forever, and grex about turbo timers stepping down the output, etc.

So if a 26350 light turns into a small curling-iron in 1-2min or so, is there really an advantage in that over, say, a fairly high-strung 18350 light?

Inquiring minds want to know…

I would like to answer your question but first let me say that we are Haikelite dealer since a while in Germany. We are shipping all ordered flashlights directly from Germany - no dropshipping or something else. As already mentioned in the first post we expect the next SC26 XHP35 HD shipment for 3rd week of June. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. By the way, I would highly appreciate your feedback regarding the SC26 colors - what is your preferred color? Blue, green, black or white/silver?

Cheers

Markus

Blue and Green for me

Well, compared to an 18350 it’s inferior both capacity and power. However, you can also compare the 26350 to the 18350 because of the same length (meaning same length light), then it’s quite superior.
There are two reasons why this format is interesting to me, specifically for the SC26.

1) The form factor of the light is quite unique, as the nickname is “fatty”: It’s compact but thick and the light has nice output.
2) The fact you can switch to the standard 26650 for a lot more capacity, much more than an 18650.

So you can do the same trick with a single 18650 light by supplying an 18350 tube, but the performance reduction will be more significant than with the SC26.

Welcome to BLF Markus! Thank you for the “Laufzeitdiagrammen” and beamshots of several Haikelite models; I found them very useful. :+1:
Let me start a poll regarding people’s preferred colour for the SC26, this might be interesting. :sunglasses:

Poll is here: Haikelite SC26 Poll: What is your preferred colour?

Blue and white colors look good to me. Hopefully, the SC26 will be available for those of us in the U.S. soon as well.

Blue, sand and green
