[review] Olight I1R EOS and M1T Raider flashlights

Olight sent me two flashlights to make a video review of, so here it is if anyone’s interested:

It’s a long video, two flashlights in one, so skip to 22:40 for the tests at night.

I also took a bunch of pictures of them to showcase here  more details in the video, but I put my summarized opinion after the images.

Pictures of the I1R:

My opinion:
+very nice and compact keychain flashlight, great form factor and aesthetics
+simple, easy to use UI
+decent output and runtime (comparable to other keychain lights)
+built in USB charging is great!
+tir lens gives very nice spot
+waterproof
+no PWM

-no removable battery, and therefore shorter warranty
-no high cri option

Pictures of the M1T:

As you can see in the image above, compared to a oversize 26650 (I had no 18650s for comparison) it could almost fit an 18650.
The tail cap and head components seem to take up a ton of room.
If this was 1cm longer and fit an 18650, it would instantly become my new EDC.

My opinion:
+beautiful design, very unique knurling
+perfect handheld size
+good forward-clicky switch, nice clicky feel
+nice spot from TIR
+waterproof
+no PWM

-very big for a 16340 light, could almost fit an 18650!
–17.07mm inside diameter can’t fit an 18350, which would be much better than a 16340
-no tail stand
-no USB charging (also doesn’t come with a rechargeable 16340)

~always starts in low mode instead of high, may be good or bad depending on what you prefer

btw just in case anyone isn’t aware yet, there’s a sale going on for 1 day only (today, the 12th) directly from olight

20% off: M2T, M1X, M3X, PL-1 II, PL-2, PL-MINI
30% off: M2R NW, M2X, M23
40% off: M18

Thanks for the review!

How can you not have an 18650?

nice review, really like the m1t but shame no 18350 support it should have had that, i mean this is way bigger then the smaller batons those i understand need to be small and cant take batteries bigger then 16340, even 18650 would be good.

I wonder what happend to the m1r they showed lats year? its up on the russian website , was supposed to be 1200 lumens and run 18350 battery so much more interesting then m1t…

:stuck_out_tongue:
I use lipos for all my stuff!
The only cylindrical cells are the ones I get from review flashlights or lights I buy, and I very rarely buy flashlights because I have very specific preferences, not the type of person to own 100 flashlights.
It’s weird because I now have almost every cell type except 18650.
26650, 14500, and 16340 xD

Yeah it would only be like 1-2mm more diameter to support 18350.
I would love an 18350 olight S mini, I even considered lathing the body tube of one to fit an 18350 inside.
I think it’s just that a lot of olight flashlights are built around 16340, and they sell many 16340 batteries too.
I will however send my suggestions to the engineering team, so maybe in the future they will make their lights a tad bit larger to fit 18350s.

To me i think they should really make an 18350 only light, they have plenty 16340 already - time to move on and make lights that make use of other battery types also i hope they will

The M1R was, for some reason, canceled by Olight. You can read about it in more detail in this thread on TLF where the German distributor of Olight shows some prototypes and experimental lights that were never released.
