Wavien collars are SOLD OUT [limited production]

Im confused with what they are saying. I interpret that email to say they intended to allow both free shipping and 10% 00coupon to be applied on orders over $100.

However the email response I got today said they can only refund me the difference between the 10% coupon and free shipping because only one discount can be applied. They refunded me that difference so I still have to pay shipping.

It sounds like you spoke to someone that did not know what was going on and Enderman spoke to the guy in charge. I would take endermans response over the one you got.

I ended up ordering just one collar out of frustration so it doesn’t apply to me

They just fixed the site, now you should be able to get both the free shipping and discount code.

They sent me another email:
To correct my previous statement - the coupon code was set up to exclude free shipping offers but we have changed it to apply both. You’ll see a refund for $6.95 to your purchase method as well.

Great, glad you got your refund.
Anyone purchasing from now on shouldn’t have any problem getting both free shipping and 10% discount

I sent an email to Jaxman to see if they would sell Z1 host version again, we’ll see what they say…

I also just got an email with a tracking number for my collar.

I didn’t read it that way. I think they were saying they would support efforts to build such a beast so you didn’t need to have a wavien collar made by an “outlaw” group.

Technically it would be outside the law to sell commercially a device that uses a patented technology (without a contract), that’s what was meant.

Even after arranging a legitimate buy of collars they chose to use the term. I think I know what was meant by it. Lumping our own purpose built and unique lights into their counterfeit warning is pretty low. If you want to remind us of the terms of the purchase and offer to collaborate on a licensed light you definitely do not have to word it like that.

No he specifically said it is fine for you to build you own unique lights or use the collars for research.
He was even aware of what the GT is and how much work BLF put into it, so clearly he cares about the flashlight community.
The discussion I had with him was about mass production retail lights like the GT.
Getting a chinese manufacturer to make a flashlight with a collar is definitely possible, as you may have seen from my previous thread about making my own collars using cheap chinese spherical mirrors, but selling lights that use it would be against the law because Meadowstar is regulating the patent.
Don’t be one of those people that gets offended for literally no reason.
Everyone is aware of how easy it is to get some chinese manufacturers to make fake products and infringe on IP.

As anyone read the patent?

I’m curious how detailed something like this gets.

Thanks. This should help me to sleep.

I’m not taking offense but the full context does help. Moving on.

Playing with my GT and MF-04 last night,I disliked those huge circles of light around the central beam,so I would like to do something to eliminate them, one way or the other, and the collar could be one of them. So,I wait and see hoping that this could be possible.

I think you might have linked the wrong one ;).

Here are the actual patents for the collar: US8979308B2 ,

They actually started by incorporating a collar into a light pipe. Then later they had the idea to also use just the collar with lenses.

Aspheric flashlights have no spill, but you need to use an aspheric lens, you can’t use the collar with a reflector :frowning:

Well HoLi Moses, Kenneth sure has been one busy guy. :student:
