Wavien collars are SOLD OUT [limited production]

I also just got an email with a tracking number for my collar.

I didn’t read it that way. I think they were saying they would support efforts to build such a beast so you didn’t need to have a wavien collar made by an “outlaw” group.

Technically it would be outside the law to sell commercially a device that uses a patented technology (without a contract), that’s what was meant.

Even after arranging a legitimate buy of collars they chose to use the term. I think I know what was meant by it. Lumping our own purpose built and unique lights into their counterfeit warning is pretty low. If you want to remind us of the terms of the purchase and offer to collaborate on a licensed light you definitely do not have to word it like that.

No he specifically said it is fine for you to build you own unique lights or use the collars for research.
He was even aware of what the GT is and how much work BLF put into it, so clearly he cares about the flashlight community.
The discussion I had with him was about mass production retail lights like the GT.
Getting a chinese manufacturer to make a flashlight with a collar is definitely possible, as you may have seen from my previous thread about making my own collars using cheap chinese spherical mirrors, but selling lights that use it would be against the law because Meadowstar is regulating the patent.
Don’t be one of those people that gets offended for literally no reason.
Everyone is aware of how easy it is to get some chinese manufacturers to make fake products and infringe on IP.

As anyone read the patent?

I’m curious how detailed something like this gets.

Thanks. This should help me to sleep.

I’m not taking offense but the full context does help. Moving on.

Playing with my GT and MF-04 last night,I disliked those huge circles of light around the central beam,so I would like to do something to eliminate them, one way or the other, and the collar could be one of them. So,I wait and see hoping that this could be possible.

I think you might have linked the wrong one ;).

Here are the actual patents for the collar: US8979308B2 ,

They actually started by incorporating a collar into a light pipe. Then later they had the idea to also use just the collar with lenses.

Aspheric flashlights have no spill, but you need to use an aspheric lens, you can’t use the collar with a reflector :frowning:

Well HoLi Moses, Kenneth sure has been one busy guy. :student:

Do you think that it is possible to put a aspheric lens to the GT or the MF-O4/?I prefer the second one, because I could convert the GT to a many lumens 70.2 light.

I have ordered this fresnel lens: Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com It sould fit.
A possible lens is http://www.optolife.com/singlet_lens/A037.html
Here you can see pictures of this lens in the GT: Wavien Kragen (collars) in Zukunft wieder erhältlich? | Taschenlampen Forum

I don’t think 70.2 will work great with Wavien collar :

Also , keep in mind that light recycling works better with dedomed leds , at least they mention surface matters , like dedomed xp-g2 etc .

I mean that I want to convert one light with the 70.2 and the other with a collar.

I think the GT is better for collar AND aspheric lens, because the head consists of two parts. You can screw the reflector-housing off from the LED-Base. With this you can set a better focus to the aspheric lens / fresnel lens.
But the GT is better for XHP70.2 because you can use it with more batteries and the cooling-fins are much better.

I think you (and me) need a second GT! (because I have similar ideas).

Keep in mind, for the XHP70.2 with an other driver (e.g. 12V and 8-9 Amps), that the MF04 has 2S2P Battery and the GT (2x)1P4S.

I see.

are there any MF02/TN42 aspheric mods out there?
